Fiji's anti-corruption commission is investigating the leader of the opposition National Federation Party.

This comes after the Registrar of Political Parties referred NFP leader Biman Prasad to the Independent Commission against Corruption (FICAC).

Registrar Mohammed Saneem said concerns were raised over donations made by Prasad to the NFP between 2016 and 2017.

In a statement, Saneem said the donations exceeded the maximum allowed for an individual under the Electoral Act.

Meanwhile, the FBC reported the commission had received a complaint against Prasad.

It said the anti-corruption body is assessing the complaint before considering any legal action.

The NFP said it has yet to view Saneem's statement.
