In this comparative life cycle assessment (LCA) study, the environmental impacts of two packaging solutions for the transportation of 10 kg of fresh fish are assessed. A fish box made from corrugated board, the EcoFishBox (EFB) manufactured by Stora Enso Oyj, is compared to a fish box made from expandable polystyrene (EPS).

The results and assumptions are presented transparently and comprehensively in the report. The Commissioner of this study is Stora Enso Oyj and the practitioner is LCA Consulting Oy (part of Etteplan).

Critical review is conducted at the end this study by an independent third-party review panel consisting of: Tarmo Räty from Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke), Catharina Hohenthal from Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT) and Olivier Muller from PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).
