Introduction

Your direction is our goal. In a world where everyone has to depend on each other, MAFI wants to make your life easier. For 29 years our customer relations has been just as important as the quality of our products. Knowing this, we have built the worldwide company we are today. On paper, MAFI is an engineering company that designs, tests, manufactures and delivers steelwork solutions. But we go further than that: We are responsive – we see it as part of our mission to understand your actual need. We are resourceful — we are always looking for new ways to enhance our solutions. We are reliable — we always deliver on our promises. Whatever it takes to get you there, we’re always prepared to go the extra mile; making us your preferred strategical partner.

CE Marking, Product Development and Design Tools MAFI is a EN 1090 certified organization, which means that our CE-marked kits comply with EN 1090-1, EN 1090-2 standards to Execution Class 2. During the product development process, every component is designed and optimized using Finite Element Analysis techniques. Prototypes are then physically tested and refined in our laboratory. Every design follows these guidelines: •

Make the kit as easy as possible to assemble and provide clear assembly instructions.

The kit is packed in a small box as possible to ensure efficient storage and transport.

•

Make the product as light as possible for easy handling on site.

Every kit comes with a data sheet with load tables. The load tables give the maximum ultimate vertical

and horizontal loads that may be applied to the kit. For bracket kits that can be clamped to tubular parent members — or support a tubular member — there is also a table of torque resistance for different standard tube diameters. MAFI provides CAD blocks for all kits and we can also provide Excel tools for checking brackets and freestanders. Disclaimer: Design recommendations given by MAFI concerning the use of a particular product are based on site information provided by the customer. MAFI provides a Declaration of Performance for the product itself, and it is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that imposed loads are within the capacity of the product. It is always the responsibility of the site designer to verify that the parent structure is adequate to support the loads imposed by the product and that the installation of the product will comply with the installation instructions and with statutory and site owner’s rules and regulations.

For most of us, the past years has been marked by challenges and sometimes tragic losses, privately and in business. Despite the pandemic, many businesses worldwide are accelerating, such as the rollout of 5G networks. In general, equipment for 5G is heavier than for older networks, and the requirements for, above all, security and performance are much higher. MAFI GROUP's long experience and design knowledge create the security that our partners expect - and through efficient logistics and well-proven solutions, we ensure that [total cost of ownership] is reduced.

ESICS is an extremely efficient tool that simplifies complex calculations. Based on a wide range of parameters such as equipment, wind load, and much more, it quickly calculates which brackets and other components are required to design or upgrade a secure site. ESICS is a game-changer, and it is already available in the UK, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and the US is next in line. As the demand is enormous, we work intensively to add all our markets. The demands for reduced environmental impact, especially regarding CO2 emissions, permeate all aspects of our global society. Therefore, we can proudly state that our solutions help our customers minimize their carbon dioxide emissions and help them achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement. In addition to our products being optimized for minimal raw material consumption and weight, they are packed efficiently to have as low a volume as possible. Within MAFI GROUP, we also do what we can to contribute - one of many concrete measures is that our car fleet will gradually become fully electric by 2023. Our global presence also contributes to a reduced climate impact. We have offices and production in the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Africa-Middle East, which means that we are close to our customers with reduced shipping distances and closer cooperation. MAFI Product Portfolio

MAFI MSS In the MSS segment you will find all kinds of general steel structure products needed to build a reliable and sustainable telecom site, for example freestanding platforms, support brackets, tubes and accessories. A product that can fit or host equipment from any telecom equipment manufacturer is an MSS product and constitutes a standard range. MSS products are stocked in our own and our distributors warehouses ready for fast deliveries every day.

MAFI MIS An MIS product is developed as an integrated part of a customer solution or product. That means that every MAFI MIS product is tailor-made for our customers. MAFI is constantly developing new MIS products for existing as well as new customers.

MAFI 3263* One-Direction Offset Family

Designed to allow an equipment pole to be offset from a parent pole or tower leg.

Flexibility 3273 is the smallest one and offers a maximum offset of 240 mm (9.4 in). 3263 and 3265 are the medium sized ones and with two different U-bolt kits for a larger range of offset members. Maximum offset for the 3263 is 420 mm (16.5 in) and for 3265 with the largest offset member mounted is 397 mm (15.6 in). 3272 has a maxmimum offset of 797 mm (31.4 in) and incorporates a double clamp to cope with the high torque loads imposed by antennas at that large offset. The hole pattern for 3272 is also suitable for option U-bolt kit 2867-1. This enables offset members to range up to 114.3 mm (4.5 in).

Designed to provide support for two similar antennas offseted symmetrically from a central parent pole. A third antenna may be mounted on the parent pole.

Flexibility 3268 is the smaller one with a maximum offset of 422 mm (16.6 in) between parent and offset pole. The bigger 3270 has a maximum offset of 850 mm (33.5 in). Maximum offset between the two offset members are 844 mm (33.2 in) and 1700 mm (66.9 in) respectively. The hole pattern for 3268 is also suitable for option U-bolt kit 2867-1. This enables offset members to range up to 114.3 mm (4.5 in).

MAFI 3610* Raking Tower Leg Offset Family

Angle options for 3610

Designed for mounting an equipment pole on a raking parent member in a perpendicular or oblique direction. The kits consist of a pair of brackets with all necessary fasteners.

Flexibility The raking tower leg offset can carry equipment up to 250 kg (551 lb), offset member included. This can be useful when radio and antenna equipment is to be preassembled off site and then lifted and mounted to a tower. The hole pattern on the 3610 front clamp is designed to allow oblique installation on angular tower legs. The bracket arm can be ﬁxed at angles 45° or 60°, to the left or right, of the parent member. Offset poles for either kit can range from Ø 60.3–76.1 mm (2.4–3 in). When using the option 2867-1 the range increases up to 114.3 mm (4.5 in).

Flexibility The single RRH Bracket 6070 has been engineered not only for a fast installation, but also in order to carry a load up to 40 kg (88 Ib). The bracket is not only a well balance and robust product, it’s perfectly designed to keep the distance between the RHH and the parent member to a minimum in order to not increase the impact of heavy wind loads and rotation slip effect.

MAFI 6072

The same goes for the dual version, 6072 which makes it possible to install up to two RRHs on each side of the parent member. (40 kg (88 Ib) /bracket) All necessary fasteners are delivered with the 6070 or 6072 including bolts and nuts for anchoring the RRH. The bracket is compatible with the following RRH (AHPMDA serie / AHPMDD serie/ AHHB serie / AHEGB serie / AHEGC serie/ AZQJ serie ).

MAFI 2230* Adjustable Strut Family

Designed to provide flexible bracing to a pole. The struts can be fitted as part of a new installation or retrofitted to an existing pole. All that is required is two structural attachment points within reach of the pole. The attachment points can be horizontal, vertical or anything in between. The kit consists of a pair of adjustable struts with feet and a pole attachment bracket.

Flexibility The 2230-family comprises three lengths of struts and two standard sizes of pole attachment clamps available to ﬁt poles with Ø 76.1 or 114.3 mm (3 in or 4.5 in).

Top view

For an evenly distributed load the recommended angle between struts is 90° as shown in the "Top view" picture. The recommended angle between strut and parent member is 45° as shown in the "Side view" picture.

Calculate strut length "b" Follow this example to calculate the neccessary strut length: The strut is to be fastened at 2.2 meter on the parent member. This is the value for "a" and "b" is to be calculated. b = √(2*a2)

Insert a = 2.2

b = √(2*2.2 ) 2

b = 3.11 The needed strut length is 3.11 meter, which means 2232 or 2235 depending on parent member diameter.

Calculate height and distance "a" Follow this example to calculate how high the strut will be fastened and the distance from the parent member: The strut length "b" is equal to 2.2 meter, and the unknown height and distance "a" is to be calulated. a = b/√2

Side view

MAFI 3022 Adaptor beams

Enclosure mounted with clamps Designed to work as adaptor beams between a new pole or enclosure and already existing structural beams on site without drilling or welding.

Flexibility The adaptor beams can be mounted either with clamps around existing structural beams, or with spacers and washers on the top flange when there is no space underneath the structural beams. Requires no drilling or welding on site.

Overturning resistance For these adaptor beams the critical dimensioning parameter is the resistance torque and reaction forces when ultimate wind loads are acting on the equipment. Both load cases must be considered when dimensioning equipment, and these limits may not be exceeded.

Flexibility The kit consists of a single 1.8 meter (5.9 ft) pole with a diameter of 76.1 mm (3 in), fasteners and a foot. Foot and pole assembly can be mounted on adaptor beams or a free stander allowing for secure mounting of equipment on, for example, a roof top. When mounted on the free stander 4310 the equipment pole is tiltable up to 6° for vertical alignment.

Flexibility The ballast in the structure can be varied to suit the wind load and there is plenty of space for mounting equipment. Cross pattern is designed for option 4316. When used together the equipment pole is horizontally adjustable up to 6° for a vertical alignment.

Rotational Slip Table Design resistance data Use the table below to check for rotational slip when mounting brackets on a circular member. Use the unfactored wind load on the equipment multiplied by the actual offset dimension from the centreline of the parent tube to the centroid of the equipment to calculate the applied torque. The unfactored load is to be used because rotational slip is regarded as a serviceability failure and not a strength failure. The values shown in the table are for a single bracket, so for a normal pair of brackets, the total torque resistance would be double that shown in the table. Each bracket added to the offset pole increases rotational slip resistance by the ﬁgure shown in the table. The resistance increases linearly with the diameter of the parent pole. Guidance

MAFI brackets are flexible – they can ﬁt different sizes and proﬁles of parent member, and the offset distance can be varied. This table allows a quick comparison of load capacity, parent member, offset member and offset range. Please read our disclaimer found on page 4.

It’s OK to have the pole a size less than the U-bolt. A U-bolt works by squeezing the pole against the bracket through the tangential point of contact, not by gripping the sides of the pole. It's important to follow the installation instructions regarding the speciﬁed nut-tightening torque. The tightening torque is calculated for every MAFI U-bolt leg or threaded rod to produce the required tension. It's not going to slip if it's installed properly. Load Capacity is the maximum mass (equipment plus offset member) that you can hang on a pair of brackets at the maximum offset. Extra brackets can be added to increase the load capacity proportionately e.g. two pairs of brackets supporting a single offset member can carry double the mass of a single pair. In addition to the permitted equipment mass, brackets mounted at least as a pair can support a 160 kg rigger standing on the end, exceptions are 53XX and 4324X. In addition to the permitted equipment mass, brackets mounted at least as a pair can support a fall arrest load of 6 kN. Exceptions are 3274, 53XX and 4324X. If a fall arrest event would occur, all involved brackets should be replaced. All brackets in the table apart from 532X and 4324X are sold as pairs.

Load Capacity The 3263 bracket pair to the left can carry 120 kg/265 lb. Using two pairs of bracket means that the load capacity doubles to 240 kg/529 lb.

Parent Member versus Offset Member The parent member is what the bracket is attached to, while the offset member is where the equipment goes.
