The College of Life and Environmental Sciences brings together the excellent teaching and research of Biosciences, Geography, Psychology and Sport and Health Sciences. Sport and Health Sciences was ranked 1st in both The Complete University Guide 2019 and The Times Good University Guide 2019, 12th in the Global
University rankings for Sports Science and 3rd in Ref 2014 for research quality and intensity.
About the role
The above fixed term full time post is available from September 2019 until August 2021 in the College of Life and Environmental Sciences.
You will have responsibility for supporting the design, development and production of teaching and learning material and deliver across a range of modules within Sport and Health Sciences. You will work with Dr Daryl Wilkerson (Director of Education) to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of teaching programmes in accordance with the College's education strategy and implementing the External Affairs strategy. You will also contribute to the development and implementation of innovative teaching practices across the College.
About you
The successful applicant will possess a breadth of specialist knowledge in sport and exercise psychology, and research methods and quantitative statistics. Candidates should have a PhD (or be nearing completion) and will be expected to teach and support learning on a range of modules related to their expertise. The applicant will be able to demonstrate the following qualities and characteristics; teamwork skills to work in collaboration with existing group members, an active and supportive approach to teaching and learning, the attitude and ability to engage in continuous professional development, the aptitude to develop familiarity with a variety of strategies to promote and assess learning and enthusiasm for delivering undergraduate programmes. In addition the successful applicant will be required to act as a supervisor for undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations, contribute to the administration of the discipline, and any other tasks as directed by the director of education.
