Natasha Marie Llorens

Natasha Marie Llorens (Ph.D. Columbia University, New York, 2021; MA Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College, 2011) is Area Head for Text at the Royal Institute of Art and teaches Art Theory. She is responsible for Theory and Art Writing in the MA program, years four and five.

Llorens writes about North African and Middle Eastern Contemporary Art and Film, Feminist and Queer Politics in Art, Philosophies of Violence, Decolonial Curatorial Practice, and the work of her long-term collaborators. She is a regular contributor to Art Agenda. Her writing has also appeared in Frieze, ArtReview, CURA Magazine, Tijdschrift Kunstlicht, PARSE Journal, Contemporary Art Stavanger, Ibraaz, and many exhibition catalogs.

She is currently working on a book project about five experimental films from the 1960s and 1970s in Algeria, and a research project on the Algerian socialism in the 1970s in collaboration with contemporary artist Massinissa Selmani. The first exhibition associated with this project will open in Algiers in spring 2023.
