So titanically self-unaware is the Democratic Resistance that it failed to grok it was actually signing the party’s death warrant Wednesday, complete with official Nancy Pelosi commemorative black-and-gold signature pens. And that their solemn, prayerful journey from one side of the Capitol building to the other was actually the conveyance of that death warrant in what amounted to the party’s funeral march. Remember this eternal paradox of the human condition: people get what they deserve, not what they expect.

Could you look at the line-up of Democratic impeachment managers without laughing? Was there ever such a band of hapless, misbegotten ninnies assembled for a suicide mission? Led by the waddling homunculus, Jerrold Nadler, side-by-side with Adam Schiff, oozing a flop-sweat of falsehood, a rank cloud of bathos trailed the procession to the Senate side with its pathetic bill-of-particulars.

Could they actually be so dim as to proffer “abuse of power” and “obstruction of congress” as articles of impeachment? These two figments would be laughed out of a second-year law school mock court. Legal necromancers of the future, with all the time in the world, may never unpack the intended meaning of these charges besides “we hate you” and “you hurt our feelings.” But it’s up to the Senate of today to dispose of them procedurally one way or another, and the exercise is sure to be a high order of entertainment.

In a sane world of rational adults, these charges would be coolly dismissed out-of-hand as lacking any discernible malfeasant substance. As we live in a time of hysteria, the normal rules don’t apply. That being the case, the defense should spare no mercy in unmasking the bad faith and fraud on offer by doing what the House Democrats have asked for, calling witnesses, so as to walk the Democrats into the fiery furnace of humiliation and infamy they so richly deserve.

Wouldn’t you like to hear from the legendary “whistleblower,” since his actions provoked this chapter of the three-year orchestrated coup to oust Mr. Trump?  If it’s a basic tenet of law that a defendant has a right to face his accuser, can there be any further excuse for concealing this person’s identity — whose supposed right to anonymity, by the way, has been one of the signal frauds of the whole episode. Would it not be instructive to seat his mentor and former boss, John Brennan, in the witness chair and give him another opportunity to perjure himself? We must also hear from Michael Atkinson, the “whistleblower’s” enabler and Lawfare warrior Mary McCord, Atkinson’s former boss at the DOJ national security desk, who apparently stage-managed the “whistleblower’s” doings through Adam Schiff’s House intel Committee. Mr. Schiff would be the ripest witness of all, of course, since he has left a trail of falsehoods and fabrications longer than the Pacific Trail — but it’s unclear just now whether the Senate rules will allow a manager to be called to testify.

There is also much to be unraveled about the American mischief in Ukraine — which includes, but goes far beyond — the arrant grift of Hunter Biden. For example, the relationships between the George Soros-backed NGO Atlantic Council and Burisma, the NatGas company that put Hunter B on its board, and Ukrainian oligarch Victor Pinchuk, board member of the Atlantic Council (and $25-million contributor to the Clinton Foundation), and Dmitri Alperovitch (also Atlantic Council) co-founder of Crowdstrike, the company that “examined” the supposedly “hacked” DNC servers, and Hillary Clinton herself, the self-dealing Secretary of State behind the international pay-for-play charity fraud she operated while in office. Also bring back former US Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch to ‘splain the actions she took to conceal all these machinations, as well as her role in operating the 2016 Kiev Hillary campaign office.

What would soon be obvious is that the precipitating “whistleblower” caper was an effort to divert attention from a network of Americans that used a politically captive Ukraine — following the Maidan Revolution of 2014 — to protect an enormous racketeering operation threatened by the candidacy, and then the election, of Mr. Trump. Naturally, they are desperate to get him out of the way. So many of the facts are already publicly known and documented about these matters that the legal machinery has yet to catch up with it all. And when it does, the Democratic Party will have driven a wooden stake through its own depraved heart.

Classic Kunstler! What a wonderfully descriptive sentence. If there was ever a more punchable face than Adam Schiff’s I have yet to see it.

If you want to laugh harder, compare a full-body pic of Jerrold Nadler with Danny DeVito’s penguin.

I didn’t think a gut of such bulbousness buoyancy was possible outside of a prosthetic.

This video has been scrubbed from nearly every hosting service I can think of: https://trendingviews.co/video/jerry-nadler-looks-like-an-elf-walking-down-hallway-7874.html

Trump as the Joker, Nadler as the Penguin, but who would you pick as Commissioner Gordon? McConnell?

Pelosi as Catwoman? No, I don’t see it. Catwoman had brains, style, and class.

OMG! He looks like a bad version of the Penguin. I thought you were exaggerating, but you actually understated the resemblance. Actually, he looks disgusting. What’s even worse, he got elected.

And now there is the Les Parnas photo problem for Mr. Trump.

Les Parnas is the corrupt Ukrainian buddy of Giuliani’s who did the sit down with Maddow a few nights ago and who, it appears, has not one or two or ten or twenty different photos with Trump at various locations (including Mar-A-Lago), but the dastardly lawyer for Parnas says that every time Trump denies that he “knows” Parnas, that he will release ANOTHER photo! In many of the pictures they both have their thumbs up. What does this mean?? Is it Trump in a smiling hostage photo saying, “Hey! Look at me! I’m being blackmailed!”??

I can see it all now. The Senate trial turns into a flaming circus and Trump finally agrees to testify and the ghost of Bill Clinton perjuring himself seeps into Trump’s brain. “And Mr. Trump. Do you know Les Parnas?” And Trump blurts out, “That all depends on what the meaning of KNOW is….ya know??

I can’t help but be reminded of the Austin Powers movie where he is going through customs and the officer says, “One Austin Powers penis enlarger” and Austin protests, “It’s not mine!”. Then the officer pulls out a book, “How to use Austin Powers penis enlarger by Austin Powers”. And Austin says, I swear! It’s not mine!!!”

I understand that Ukraine is the most corrupt country in the world and that the United States is knee-deep in their affairs, politically, financially and militarily with members from BOTH parties involved.

What a Pandora’s Box of corruption.

No wonder McConnell and many other political elites want NO witnesses called!

” And when it does, the Democratic Party will have driven a wooden stake through its own depraved heart.”

    And then what?

My suggestion- a double tap to the head of the RNC.

Start over. Could not do worse.

    • Zoltar January 17, 2020 at 10:52 am #

I would love to see both loathsome, corrupt parties replaced, but there will always be wolves, and the Republicans would just be replaced by republicans, however renamed.
The unnatural thing is that there is no longer an opposition party of sheepdogs to at least try to protect the people from the wolves. Replacing the Democratic Party might not be sufficient, but it is absolutely necessary to even attempt to rebuild this nation.

      • abbybwood January 17, 2020 at 12:30 pm #

        Let’s be honest.

Both parties are filled with rich, corrupted lawyers. Or they are individuals corrupted by their rich backers. Right now the Democrats are leading the pack.

They have a stranglehold of money on Congress that no ordinary citizen can ever break into.

Even the Justice Democrats had millions of dollars when they did their “casting call” for a Bronx candidate and voila! They found AOC, a pretty bartender with a feisty attitude! “She’s perfect!!”

Until we have public funding of elections where candidates themselves must go out and get hundreds of signatures to qualify, there will NEVER be anyone in Congress representing “We, the People”.

      • peter m January 17, 2020 at 2:02 pm #

I also have my doubts that contrary of the hopes of many in the alt media including Mr. Kunstler that the GOP representatives will fight that hard for Mr. Trump or to really clear up any of the mischief the DP set in motion when they decided they could not allow an outsider (who actually has himself surrounded with the worst of insiders now) to at least nominally govern the country with a slightly different set of goals.

Both parties are just expressions of two slightly different sets of oligarchs who in the end do not wish to harm each other severely as the aim is to make money from the rubes and gather the money so freely issued by the Fed and pull the wool over the collective eyes of the USA public by having them convinced that the USA is a democracy where the interests of the majority count for anything.

a bit off topic . I have a new theory about the killing of General Solamani . The Ayatollah knew Solomani was getting ready to stage a Military Coup. So he let Trump know where the General would be. I have no facts to back this up. But the support for Solomani after he was killed showed he was more popular than the Ayatollah.

    Ok thats it.

I read that Soleimani was on a Diplomatic Mission to Iraq to discuss a peace deal between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Trump was also very unhappy with the Prime Minister of Iraq going to China recently and signing five different Memos of Understanding with China dealing with oil and infrastructure deals with China coming to Iraq and hiring thousands of Iraqis to work on new highway projects etc.

The big Chinese “Belt and Road Project” will involve Iraq, Iran, Syria etc. going to Europe.

Trump and the U.S. are losing the Middle East to China and Russia.

China and Russia want to make deals. The U.S. wants to make war.

There is way more to the Soleimani assassination than we have been told by our corrupt, propagandistic MSM and the US government. It seems all they know how to do is lie.

Usually an action of this magnitude has multiple motivators, including the Iran sold him out angle.

I wish I could take faith in the outcome you project, but my sense is that too many people have anchored too much emotional stake in the the fatuous diatribes of the Left, now being left intellectually paralyzed against reconciling their ego to fact that they’ve been herded like docile cattle to the slaughter pen.

The longer it goes on, the more I am conviced that Trump & co. unquestionably had a strategy mapped out in advance.

Recall the visit he had from Admiral Rogers (of the NSA) and the fact that he moved out of Trump Tower directly afterward (see various Spygate info. from Bongino, TheLastRefuge, Jeff@Epoch Times and others).

That aside, every step of the way, Dem/Uniparty actions reek of desperation. Mueller utterly failed, and was reduced to a stuttering senile old man who could not recount basic details of the investigation; incredible evidence has come out about the Uniparty and Ukraine; Schiff’s hand-picked witnesses in the “impeachment hearings” refused to mouth the talking points under oath, and ended up vindicating Trump’s claims; and now we have an impeachment based on no crime or associated evidence, with a mysterious “whistleblower” who cannot be unmasked.

I am fully confident we will see some justice at this point. This is the only logical outcome if we are to be a nation of laws. And Trump is known to relish revenge when wronged.

“fiery furnace of humiliation and infamy they so richly deserve.”

omg..however do you come up with these gems, Jim?

  7. neon sky January 17, 2020 at 10:48 am #

    Hope you are right Jim.

Interesting that the Speaker of the House held off handing over the impeachment charges for a month. Prior to that they were in such a rush. Maybe she didn’t want it to disrupt the holiday cheer? Who do you suppose benefits the most by silencing Bernie and Liz at such a critical time of the campaign? They’re going to be left sitting on their hands, for weeks, or who knows, maybe months. Could it be to help Uncle Joe? Is this why Nancy held such a tight grip on those papers? Bernie is getting taken again. And now Liz joins him. Why isn’t this an issue?

What a freak show. And they call this governing.

    • Daddyotis January 17, 2020 at 11:00 am #

The Bernie-Liz WWF Main Event has the potential to explode yugely. So much for the “non-aggression pact” between the dems. Always helpful to inject some fake sexism claim to demolish any remaining currency this group of monkeys might have had. This was clearly such an intentional attack from Liz-the-known-liar against the only socialist competitor she has, specifically calculated to pit the ever-irritable Bernie Bros against the legion of man-hating, hairy-legged feminista supporters of Liz the fake indian.

Honestly, there simply isn’t enough popcorn in my state to watch these next few weeks unfold with.

What’s funnier is when RWNJs call anyone NOT Himself a liar and use it pejoratively.

It’s like ‘Yes, he’s a liar, but he’s MY liar’ and that’s all good. The current running joke is the new photo Lev Parnas (corrupt scum that he is) publishes every time Himself, waiting for a cock to crow no doubt, says “I don’t know the guy!”. Yet you Trumpistas just let it slide…eventually, you’ll just let this homunculus grifter ‘slide’ into some shitty authoritarian rule. If you’re not careful…Hitler was elected after al.

The look on Bernie’s face, when the penny dropped. He thought, he THOUGHT, that this time he’d come back tougher than ever, and grab that nomination.

    “A Solemn Prayerful Journey”

Ugh! Yep, I threw up a little bit in my mouth when it became clear to me that this wasn’t an SNL skit, but rather the actual machinations of what passes for serious business by the US House of Representatives. Although political theater has always been part & parcel of the goings-on in Washington DC, I’m old enough to remember a time when the players actually tried to convey some legitimacy from their wranglings. However, the current un-tethered active bloviations from these beyond-TDS House Democrats beats anything I could have ever imagined in the weirdest episode of The Twilight Zone. Honestly, I’m just left slack-jawed in wonder at where we’ve currently ended up as a society when this is the normal state of affairs.

….and this without even touching on the (heretofore purposely obfuscated) new round of QE (“not-QE”) being pumped into the banking system and the Markets by a Federal Reserve – US Treasury “to provide needed liquidity”… Yeah, this should end well.

“Nothing to see here, citizen. Go back to watching CNN!”

    • Nightowl January 17, 2020 at 11:03 am #

      It is the Twilight Zone.

The media coverage still amazes me if I am honest, and I am one jaded MFer.

Here in Europe, we have plenty of globalist propaganda and all the big networks push the same talking points on Trump. But the delivery is much more restrained, and they wont go so far as to claim footage from an Idaho gun show is mass murder in Syria.

Watching US media outlets is unreal. The blatant lies, anchors rolling eyes and snarking on air. We are watching a coordinated psychological operation being carried out on the public, IMO.

    • Beryl of Oyl January 17, 2020 at 12:20 pm #

I’m wondering if that ludicrous display by that half-senile old bag wasn’t some last ditch effort to rouse the rabble (me?)
I’m thinking that, because Coonman in Virginia has decided this is the best time to stage some unConstitutional displays of government power.
He already came up with a handful of “Nazis” from somewhere, in order to justify a crackdown.
This is the kind of stuff that gets people killed.
I wouldn’t put it past them, if they think it would protect them from their crimes.

    Remember that old song, ‘Memphis?’

Boy robbed, mom identifies with Black attackers,

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — One Memphis family is sending a surprising message to a group of teenagers that attacked their son.

The family is dealing with a traumatic event, but they do not want stereotypes or preconceived notions to paint an unfair picture about the boys who attacked a member of their family.

A group of teens was spotted in a Cooper-Young neighborhood riding bikes Sunday afternoon. They can be seen in a video following a pair down an empty street.

Less than two hours later, their actions took a violent turn.

One of them asked 16-year-old Leif Love-Cloys for a dollar. He gave it to them. [his first mistake]

But when he refused to hand over a $20 bill they saw in his wallet, the group attacked.

“That’s when they jumped him,” mother Rev. Edith Love said. “One of them held him from behind, while another one was punching him on the sides of his head.”

Though traumatic, the attack did not leave any permanent physical damage, but the family is hurting due to social media messages following the incident.

“I am highly offended by people saying that this was stereotypical black children acting violently,” Love said.

They’ve seen neighbors use terms like thugs and criminals to describe the boys involved. But more so than online comments, they’re concerned about the futures of the attackers.

“These boys, if they don’t alter the path that …….etc

Yes, stereotypes often come into existence because of the underlying reality. Blacks are stereotyped as a criminal race because they are just that. The stereotypes are problematic at the individual level of course – often unfair. But as a generality or aggregate, they are correct.

Irish drunks? Another true stereotype for example.

      • malthuss January 17, 2020 at 2:14 pm #

I looked on wiki and Pressley is concerned about ‘trans hookers’—

The congresswoman came to the US more than two decades ago as a refugee and became an American citizen in 2000 at the age of 17, according to the New York Times. She won her election last year, and now represents Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District.

Tlaib, who was elected in 2018, is the first Palestinian-American woman to serve in Congress, and she and Omar are the first two Muslim women ever elected to Congress.
She represents Michigan’s 13th Congressional District, and was the first Muslim woman to serve in the Michigan state Legislature. Tlaib is the first of 14 children born to Palestinian immigrant parents and the first in her family to graduate from high school as well as college.

Pressley has spoken publicly about her father being incarcerated for much of her childhood and how she is a rape survivor. She has said, “The people closest to the pain should be closest to the power.”

    Great post JHK, thanks.

For all his failings, D. J. Trump has given his fellow countrymen a chance to reform their corrupt political system. I expect to see at least one party openly declaring themselves to be populist defenders of ordinary people while at least one other party will attempt to defend and advance the globalist agenda. There may be the emergence of more than two national parties for a while. Future histories will note the important disruptive role of President Trump, whatever his personal fate may be. America has an opportunity here, I hope you don’t blow it.

    • Beryl of Oyl January 17, 2020 at 12:35 pm #

Something many of Donald Trump’s enemies fail to understand about him, which just came to my mind when I heard a remark he made to Rush Limbaugh- Donald is a very law-abiding individual.
      He always has been.
The remark he made, “Even I was surprised by how clean I am” couldn’t be more true.

When he first announced his candidacy, and the NYT was putting out a call for dirt on him, my first thought was why not use the dirt they have?
I went back and looked at some of the stuff Wayne Barrett had written about private citizen Donald Trump over the years.
An awful lot of it, with his business dealings, is what we consider shady, it may be unethical, but illegal? No.
Also, to rip the lid off that can of worms would expose not just the Trumps, but everybody else in real estate in NYC.
Wayne got heavily into deeply personal matters. Donald Trump’s personal life may have been distasteful to many, but criminal?
Ivanka never lived under the same roof as her father after his divorce? Is that unusual?

Something else he gets criticized for by his supporters, not acting fast enough on, the wall and illegal immigration- he wants to do everything legally, by the book, and not use sometimes unConstitutional “executive orders” that can easily be undone.
His taxes? Who pays taxes when they don’t make a profit?
      That’s the law.
His sister is a judge. He understands this stuff.

Yes, only a heavy hand could save America now. He is not the one to save us. He actually wants those hungry millions here because “the economy is so good”. That wasn’t the platform that got him elected. We want what we need: a Caesar. Legal immigration is a farce at this point. We’re being replaced. It’s as simple as that.

          Robert Reich via twitter:
AT&T is laying off thousands of workers at the beginning of the year without severance pay.
Instead, the employees will have to train their foreign replacements.

          https://twitter.com/RBReich/status/1212074223872679936

Of course it’s Reich so he goes on to mention Trump Tax cuts and the fact AT&T pays no taxes and etc. We get that.

What’s interesting are the comments (re-tweets? I don’t do twitter). Lots of company out there for the re-placed AT&T ers.

You hit on a very important point.

Consider how long he has been investigated, and who has done the investigating.

The fact that Mueller’s team of some 20 crooked Lawfare grifters couldn’t find anything whatsoever that rose to the level of a crime is quite telling. The investigation had a massive scope and funding, and bipartisan support across institutions.

It is a good indicator of just how propagandized people are. Even the ones fighting for the rule of law but who hate Trump in the superficial sense have trouble accepting that he would appear to be quite clean.

How many here could withstand that level of legal scruitiny? Very few, I suspect. And no one here has been at the apex of business and entertainment over years.

President Trump is the gift that YeHeVeH bestowed to America so that it finally exposes and deposes the Vatican mafia commie Satanists.

What candidate and then President Trump did is inadvertently expose and trigger the Vatican communist mafia by FINALLY providing a political platform and agenda that rolls back their multi-decades long commie machinations and triumphs over America. By opposing commie globalism/internationalism, the Vatican’s world government and empire (NWO), by re-establishing the supremacy of nationhood, President Trump managed to do what the whole rotten commie-infested and paralyzed Washington establishment could not.

          • akmofo January 17, 2020 at 10:10 pm #

Odin is an historical memory of the ancients of celestial catastrophes as explained by Velikovsky. In fact, all the ancient “myths” are related thus. What makes the ancient Hebrews special is that they recognized that the planets/comets causing havoc and destruction on Earth were mere messengers and agents (angels) of YeHeVeH.

Today, we may think of God as that pan-universe electric current that instantly powers the universe and us, on and off. Thus, God is at once one and everything; at once eternal and non-existing; at once the source of life and death; at once intelligent and not; and we and the universe are at once in his image and not.

There must be more to this story. Pelosi’s family, as well as much of the Democrat party, is mired in the corruption associated with Ukraine. Surely she must know that success in getting her witnesses would likely result in Trump being allowed to call in his own. This would destroy the Democrats. This could be the trial of the century if everyone got to bring in their own favored witnesses. It might leave all of Washington in ashes.

But this is not what will happen. My prediction is that after opening charges and defense, they will call a vote that ends the sham and saves the Democrats. The consolation prize for the Democrats is being able to say that Trump is forever impeached. They will then revert to mining the Mueller dossier for more impeachment charges. We might resolve some of this in November.

I don’t know about you, but it looks oddly parallel, on the one hand Joe demanding the ouster of the Ukrainian prosecutor investigating Burisma, the company the ne-er-do-well Boy Biden was – cough – working for (at a rate of 50 grand per month), and Trump, on the other hand, asking the Ukrainians for an investigation into what the Bidens were up to.

Threats? Oh yes, threats aplenty, from Joe, get that prosecutor louse outta my boy’s hair or lose a tidy sum of foreign aid. From Trump, the same, get to the bottom of the Biden caper or lose a similarly healthy amount.

Again, I don’t know about you, but I’d like to connect the threads of what exactly Hunter was doing in that director position, one for which he didn’t manifest any obvious qualification, but especially as his daddy was Vice Prez, and because the US was up to its ass in Ukrainian affairs. In any case, if it was a crime for Trump to use his office to extort action from the Ukrainians, then why wasn’t it similarly a crime for Joe to do the same?

Oh, I know, the motives were different, Joe’s as pure as the driven snow. I’m like you, I was born yesterday.

Let’s say that what the Democrats are up to with this moronic farce fully qualifies the party for the coroner’s table. They’re not alone, for if the party is moribund by virtue of its actions, then what to say about its multitude of followers, fully believing this quackery?

What about the global milieu? This political malpractice in Washington is even giving Italian politicians pause. Boris the buffoon? Boris who doesn’t exactly know what he thinks about anything from one day to the next? No, Boris the crusading Brexiteer looks positively Churchillian compared to the clowns on Capitol Hill.

At least for now. Who knows what Boris and his minions carry about in their expensive leather brief-cases, who knows what the Yes Prime Minister civil service is plotting behind the scenes.

Maybe sleight of hand switcheroos await, flurries of meetings, pronouncements, grandiose signing ceremonies, photo-ops, press conferences, handshakes, mutual congratulations, but the post-Brexit regime looking pretty much pre-Brexit. That’s long been my prediction, for all the sound and fury, nothing much will change, a Brexit without exit.

The hell of it is this, there’s often a puzzling inertia to human affairs, such that even when you have the tumult of revolution, what replaces the status-quo looks alarmingly like the status-quo that got replaced.

Stalin out-Czared the Czars in brutality, imprisoning and killing uncounted numbers, even as the communists pretended to be all for the proletariat they were abusing. And, puzzlingly, the Roman Senate continued to meet in Rome into the seventh century, well after the fifth century demise of the Western Empire. It was like an episode of the Twilight Zone where the characters don’t know they’re dead, watching the world of the living go about its day-to-day business, not realizing that they themselves kicked the bucket, not noticing their own dead bodies in the basement.

What about the Democrats? Will they stagger about like the Roman Senate, an un-dead corpse, or maybe a shadow institution going through the motions? Or will they transmogrify into a successor party, purporting to be for this or that, pretending they have some qualifications for governing, horrifying in aspect like the Russian communists?

Or maybe they’ll merely turn into a clown act, howlingly corrupt, turning Congress into a more ludicrous cattle-market than it already is, Italianate in absurdity, becoming a pathetic international laughing stock? I wonder if I’ll live long enough to see it all play out. I wish I had a crystal ball.

“but the post-Brexit regime looking pretty much pre-Brexit. That’s long been my prediction, for all the sound and fury, nothing much will change, a Brexit without exit. “

      volodya

What it is it you mean by that exactly? The UK leaves the EU at the end of this month, so the ‘post-Brexit’ regime hasn’t even started yet.

It starts with an agreed transitional arrangement until the end of the year, by which time Boris plans to have a free trade agreement in place with the EU. (It will take longer to do this than 11 months, as anyone ever involved in trade negotiations will tell you for nothing, so the agreement will probably be partial at that stage – the other option is no deal at all, which will do enormous damage to the economy and people’s jobs.)

This is what the British public voted for (although resulting in a parliamentary majority much larger than the proportion of individual votes would have done under a different system – but neither of the main parties will give up the advantages, to them, of FPTP).

In fact, the majority of individual British electors voted for anti-Brexit parties (by 52%:48% – what is it about those numbers?).

Anyway, the system is what it is and Boris has done well from it. But there was another option – Farage’s Brexit Party – which offered a hard, no-deal Brexit and was far more interested in a deal with the US than with the EU. But even you must have noticed by now, volodya, that they didn’t win a single seat in Parliament. I’ll try and put it another way: the British public overwhelmingly rejected a hard, no-deal Brexit (they may still get it at the end of the year, despite only a minority wanting it, but them’s the breaks).

So, volodya, who are you blaming for things not (yet, anyway) going the way you, in your wisdom, would like them to go? The stupid voting public that wouldn’t vote for the Brexit Party (Farage has personally tried 7 times to get elected and failed every time)? Really?

Why is what the public voted for not good enough for you? How very deplorable of them.

Personally I’m looking with interest at the new Agriculture Bill. There are things I like, such as paying grants to farmers specifically to take care of the land and improve and maintain the soil, rather than just paying them according to how much land they grow food on. This will also facilitate some rewilding projects to reclaim some of the sheep pasture that has perversely come to be thought of as ‘natural’ in many areas, when it is anything but.

However, there is no provision to protect farmers (or consumers) from low-regulation, low-quality, cheap food imports, produced under conditions British farmers and producers have – proudly – long left behind, so that is less good and a continuing concern. And is less conducive to long-term food security. So I’ll be taking Brexit, when it comes in a couple of weeks, one day at a time, with each individual post-Brexit decision to be assessed on its own merit.

We’ve already seen an agreement to drop air passenger duty to help keep a failing airline (FlyBe) afloat (socialism?) at the expense of efforts to curb CO2 emissions. You must be happy with that one.

My guess is it will be swings and roundabouts for the foreseeable future, with the neoliberal, low-regulation Brexiters like Rees-Mogg, John Redwood and Liam Fox never tiring in their efforts to put their investment clients’ interests – or their future revolving door opportunities – before those of ordinary people. If only we had a Labour Party worthy of the name in opposition to keep them accountable.

        Mrs Green,

In your opinion, is the BBC a commie propaganda outlet? Why don’t I see any difference between it and RT? What, in your estimate, has been its propaganda effects on your opinion? Do you find it at all strange that your opinion mirrors that of the BBC?

Btw, the old Israeli Labour Party, has now shriveled to such a degree that it has been forced to merge with the radical commie anti-Zionist leftist Meretz Party (in league with the anti-Zionist Arab Union of Parties), just to make it above the minimum required votes to register in the Knesset.

Nothing is coincidental in this world, not Labour’s Jeremy Corbyn, not the fact the richest country in Latin America in terms of oil reserves, and in fact in the whole world, Venezuela, is now bankrupt under the antisemitic commie dictators, Chávez and Maduro.

Btw, now that China has a lock on $200 billion in US agri exports, and Canada is locked out of that market, might be a good idea to set up a bilateral free trade between Scotland and Canada. I’m guessing Scotland will be out of the UK, if Blondie and Mrs Green have their way 🙂

          • GreenAlba January 17, 2020 at 2:12 pm #

“I’m guessing Scotland will be out of the UK, if Blondie and Mrs Green have their way”

I take it you have read none of my posts on the matter, akmofo. I voted in 2014 to remain within the UK and have not, so far, changed my mind.

It’s so much easier to listen than to guess. 🙂 Well, maybe not easier, just more effective.

And if by Blondie you mean Boris, he has refused permission to the SNP to hold a referendum at all, and the country has no constitutional right to hold one without permission from the UK government. (This will increase support for independence, sadly, as anyone with half a brain could figure out – I don’t want Indyref2 at all, but I’d rather have it next year and hope desperately that people have had enough of economic disruption and unicorn salesmen, leaving the result the same).

If you mean Ms Sturgeon, on the other hand, whom I’ve never seen referred to as ‘Blondie’, I agree with her on hardly anything. I would rather she concentrated on jobs, schools and hospitals than promising unicorns to the Scottish public, over whom she presides in a minority government in Holyrood.

          • akmofo January 17, 2020 at 2:38 pm #

Blondie is Boris. Boris being a “dumb blonde”, like myself.

Mrs Green, I know that you wish to remain within the UK, but the UK does not wish to remain within the EU. There’s a dilemma there, no? My understanding is that the wish to remain within the EU is a majority view in Scotland, and that there are many voices in Scotland wishing to separate from the UK. Maybe the unraveling of the Vatican EU project will provide a catalyst for everyone to go their own way? I don’t see anything wrong with that, why do you?

          • GreenAlba January 17, 2020 at 5:42 pm #

            akmofo

You are right that Scotland voted to remain within the EU. Scotland’s exports to the EU are vital to its economy. Where do you think a whole lot of the fish and seafood in those Spanish tapas restaurants comes from? And we have always been better pals with Europe than the English (you will recall the Auld Alliance between France and Scotland).

You are also right that support for Scottish independence is strong, although even now it seems to be a minority aspiration (as I’ve said, Boris’ intransigence may well tip the balance for the fence-sitters).

“Maybe the unraveling of the Vatican EU project will provide a catalyst for everyone to go their own way? I don’t see anything wrong with that, why do you?”

I would see a lot less wrong with it if it disbanded all at once and the UK was not therefore shooting itself in the foot before it needs to. We had the best deal of anyone – a considerable rebate negotiated by Thatcher, no membership of Schengen and no need to be in the Eurozone.

If Scotland decides to and is able to rejoin as an independent nation (which I obviously hope won’t happen anyway), it will not get any of those perks. That would, for one thing, mean open internal borders with the rest of Europe, which we don’t have now. I would therefore seriously consider not voting to rejoin, depending on the advantages and disadvantages to those less fortunate than myself who are still young enough to need jobs and who have mortgages to pay. But if it all falls apart at once tomorrow and the UK is therefore not negatively affected by EU tariffs on exports to Europe, that’s fine with me.

          • akmofo January 18, 2020 at 12:44 am #

Seems to me, Mrs Green, all them “perks” you speak of, that is, all them EU fees you currently do not pay, will be non-existent once the EU is disbanded and dissolved. Why couldn’t you negotiate similar bilateral arrangement with Spain or any other independent European country? Anyhow, the prospect of the EU dissolving is very real and eminent. I wouldn’t be surprised if the next country to leave the EU would be France or Italy or Spain, or all combined. I think it’s a very real possibility that in the coming elections they will elect anti-EU rightwing nationalist parties to lead their governments. It seems to be a trend, around the world. 🙂

          • GreenAlba January 18, 2020 at 7:29 am #

We currently do pay the ‘fees’, akmofo – we’re still in the EU until the end of the month. The transitional arrangement will involve continuing the fees in exchange for access to the single market.

Whether the fees are more offensive in principle than the far greater gains enjoyed by British firms of all sizes exporting to Europe is something you’d be better putting to a farmer who’s looking at 40% WTO tariffs on his exports to Europe if there’s no free trade deal by the end of the year – or even to a financial services firm that will lose its passporting rights to operate within the EU, given that the UK is principally a service-based economy.

” Why couldn’t you negotiate similar bilateral arrangement with Spain or any other independent European country?”

Once the EU no longer exists, this will of course be possible. It’s not possible now because individual countries within the EU cannot negotiate individual trade deals, it being a single market and customs union an’ all.

If the EU dissolves, it dissolves – why would I care? What concerns me is the UK shooting itself in the foot economically while it still exists. Because it’s not about rhetoric, it’s about people’s livelihoods.

          • GreenAlba January 18, 2020 at 7:34 am #

Although one should not forget that relatively long-term peace and cooperation have also been a result of economic cooperation within the EU.

If the peace dividend is also lost in due course, that will prove to be a high price to pay for increased nationalism.

          • GreenAlba January 18, 2020 at 8:05 am #

And I should say it’s not only the UK shooting itself in the foot that’s a problem. The other problem is the agenda of the instigators of Brexit among the political class, which is deregulation – the potential loss of protections enshrined in EU law for workers, consumers and the environment. Deregulation for these people (Rees-Mogg, Hannan, Farage et al) is the whole point of Brexit.

It amuses me that Brexiters who object to arbitration by the European Court of Justice – which operates openly – do not seem to object to secret corporate courts being able to sue national governments for enacting legislation that risks – just risks – harming their bottom line. This is what ANY trade deal with the US will entail. Democracy and taking back control my a*se.

          • akmofo January 18, 2020 at 3:45 pm #

It wasn’t nationalism that is/was the problem in Europe, it was imperialism. Nationalists don’t go to war over borders thousands of kilometres away, that is what imperialists do.

        • GreenAlba January 17, 2020 at 2:03 pm #

I do not recognise the BBC as a ‘commie’ outfit, akmofo, probably because my definition of ‘commie’ differs from yours. Nevertheless I do regard it as being, at least in part, one of many propaganda outlets used by those in power (as in those really in power). Nevertheless, the fact that both sides on many political issues endlessly consider it to be biased in favour of their opponents is a small cause for congratulation.

As regards my opinion ‘mirroring’ that of the BBC, you have failed to mention anything in my post that (a) mirrors the presumed opinion of the BBC or (b) refutes my point that volodya would prefer to have his variation of Brexit to the one that the UK overwhelmingly voted for, in its unfortunate deplorability.

I do not, for example, know if the BBC – or any individuals within it – have particular views on the Agriculture Bill I mentioned, while I do know what my views are, despite not having read anyone else’s views on it at all yet. Feel free to share your own.

Incidentally, what kind of party do you think would be an ideal one to take the place of the British Labour Party in serving as an effective opposition to the current Tory Party? You may call it what you like – its policies are what I’m interested in and how they would differ from those of the Tory Party. I’m assuming you share my belief that an effective (but honest) opposition is integral to the working of a representative democracy.

          • akmofo January 17, 2020 at 2:27 pm #

I’m confused by your part of your answer, Mrs Green. Are you saying that the BBC is/was for Brexit, and, that therefore you two are in opposition?

The most effective opposition to the current Tory Party is one that would be to the “Right” of the current Tory Party.

Yes, your definition is more narrow than mine. To me, romanism/communism in all its variations (satanism/progressivism/globalism/socialism/nazism/fascism) needs to disappear.

Democracy is not about opposition, it is about building consensus.

          • GreenAlba January 17, 2020 at 2:52 pm #

Building consensus is good (if it’s not totalitarianism), but representative democracy of the kind we have requires an effective opposition with which to build consensus. There was, sadly, a consensus (with many honourable exceptions) on the illegal invasion of Iraq.

Again, you give no details on policy. ‘Right of the Tory Party’ would mean what in terms of policy and legislation?

I would agree that the BBC showed a preference for Remain. It didn’t affect me, because my views were my own, but I did notice it. It was an antidote to the fact that the majority (by readership) of the British press was staunchly pro-Brexit. If we must have biases, then it is good that they are not all on the same side.

          • akmofo January 17, 2020 at 3:03 pm #

‘Right of the Tory Party’ would mean Libertarian policy.

            No taxes.
            No gov mafia.
No forced indoctrination and participation and payments to gov mafia institutions, like the commie BBC.
            No central bank.
            No central currency.
            No central power or authority.

          • GreenAlba January 17, 2020 at 5:49 pm #

Well, exactly, elysianfield. I consider the ‘successfully’ bit fairly critical. Even Northern Ireland, which has had no government in Stormont for almost 3 years (just recently re-convened after years of standoff following a DUP scandal) has seen vital services fall apart to an alarming degree.

    • Beryl of Oyl January 17, 2020 at 1:30 pm #

Rand Paul says that a president is supposed to withhold aid to corrupt countries.
Rand id pretty sharp about these things. That’s why they keep trying to kill him.

      • volodya January 17, 2020 at 1:35 pm #

The problem of course is that countries needing aid are usually corrupt top to bottom, which may partly explain why they need aid, their corruption hobbling and impoverishing them.

So if the rule is no aid for corrupt countries, and if you follow the rule, there should be some very large savings to the US treasury.

    • abbybwood January 17, 2020 at 1:37 pm #

Both parties need to bite the bullet and hold a Truth and Reconciliation Meeting where the American people can finally be told the TRUTH about ALL the crimes they have been party to and covered up.

Of course even if they were all assured no one would be strung up in the town square they would NEVER agree to this.

The United States even refuses to join the ICC (International Criminal Court) because of all the war crimes we have committed.

This is what happens when a country only elects corrupt lawyers and the elite to “represent” them.

I don’t think our founders intended for our country to end up being an international criminal cabal.

“Trade only, but form no entangling alliances”. Ha!

Speaking of the Democratic Party impaling itself, how did you like Elizabeth Warren deliberately ripping hemorrhagingly open the festering fissure between the “Bernie” and “Hillary” wings of the party’s base with a bullshit story about something Bernie Sanders said, with the full and willfully medacious co-operation of the Clinton News Network?

Warren, who has a history of misrepresentation for personal gain, may have intended this as a “Hail Mary” pass for derailing a Sanders victory in Iowa so that she might possibly win New Hampshire, or perhaps she’s angling to be Joe Biden’s running-mate now that it’s clear that her own candidacy is deflating like a punctured bicycle-tire.

Either way, it’s a deeply pathetic desperation-move that will certainly not redound to her benefit and will either ultimately benefit Bernie Sanders or accelerate the Democratic Party’s already dizzying circling of the proverbial drain.

    • fugeguy January 17, 2020 at 12:09 pm #

Fairly easy to picture Ms. Warren taking an affront or being outraged.

Being affronted and outraged are possibly the only things she is capable of doing. Just saying…

    • Beryl of Oyl January 17, 2020 at 12:56 pm #

The conversation took place in 2018, and it bothered her so much she told people about it, but she kept quiet about it to her “friend” Bernie?

I’m thinking her candidacy, when she already knew Bernie wanted a second sot, is a knife in a friend’s back as well.

      • Beryl of Oyl January 17, 2020 at 12:57 pm #

Second “shot”. Hillary is the sot.

Women are constantly lying, perhaps even more than men. Human psychology is the psychology of the Lie. Other people expect it. If you always tell the Truth, you will be hated and end up on the street.

    • abbybwood January 17, 2020 at 9:37 pm #

After the bitterness between Bernie and Her Highness in 2016, he campaigned hard for her at over 27 different events.

I would ask Sen. Warren, “If Bernie wins the nomination, will YOU go out and campaign hard for him as he did for Hillary??!”

I think it would be more of the deer in the headlights time for Ms. Warren.

“That being the case, the defense should spare no mercy in unmasking the bad faith and fraud on offer by doing what the House Democrats have asked for, calling witnesses, so as to walk the Democrats into the fiery furnace of humiliation and infamy they so richly deserve.”

I totally agree! however, what takes its place, and what parts of the bizarre conglomeration of many political movements inherent and co-existing (albeit shakily) within the Democrat party, come to realization?
I think one of them very possibly is an actual Left party led by Sanders as one of their spokesmen. I can also see a smaller, rump neo-liberal party of center-left types of ppl like HRC and Klobuchar, as examples.

    • venuspluto67 January 17, 2020 at 12:21 pm #

“Shakily” indeed. The Democratic Party is already pretty much two mutually and irreconcilably hostile parties co-existing in one decaying, decrepit organization.

  18. PeteAtomic January 17, 2020 at 12:12 pm #

Warren’s criticism of Sanders over a charge of sexist is just the logical end of a political party obsessed & brain washed by identarianism & all of its accompanying baggage.

The war could have been over by 1943.

            Think about that:

            No Holocaust
            No destruction of European cities
No aid to the Soviet Union
            No Soviet Union
No post war Soviet occupation of Europe
No trillions wasted on Cold War nonsense

It just boggles the mind how stupid people are..

Franco didn’t like Hitler or Nazism – but the “Allies” refused him aid. In other words, they were (and are) on the side of the Communists. Just one more fact that shows we were on the wrong side. Ditto China and our throwing it to Mao and Chiang Kai Shek under the bus.

So he took some aid from Hitler. Any port in a storm. His Fascism was overtly Catholic whereas Hitler wanted to do away with Christianity in the long term.

          • akmofo January 17, 2020 at 5:27 pm #

I’ll make it very simple for you, Jan:

            Vatican = Romanism = Satanism = Progressivism = Globalism = Collectivism = Communism = Socialism = Nazism = Fascism = Corporatism

THEY ARE ALL THE SAME !!!

The problem with you, Jan, is that you don’t know and therefore don’t understand Hitler’s idiotic economic views. You are emotionally blind in your reverence to your God Hitler, and therefore you can’t comprehend and appreciate how stupid Hitler’s economic thinking was, and generally how stupid and destructive Hitler’s economic and thereby political and military and actions were.

Hitler was against Corporatism – they played ball or they got out. The Government leads and the Private sphere must follow. And He fought the International Bankers and their Communist running dog lackeys. And he hated “cultural Marxism” or progressivism in the arts and culture – and he quashed it and the Weimar Republic which fostered it. And St Pius the 12th wrote one encyclical after another against National Socialism – so you’re wrong there too.

You’re good at being wrong. But yes, He was a baptized Catholic though obviously a lapsed one. “My God, Adolf Hitler” – how crazy are you anyway?

How about instead of believing me, you use your own noodles. What would you call a person who literally destroyed their own nation, destroyed all the youth of their nation, and the best people of their nation?

Imagine Germany today with its own thriving Jewish population. It would have been the startup capital of the world, instead of Silicon Valley and Israel’s Silicon Wadi. It would have been producing real innovation instead of overpriced and over-engineered 20th century junk. It would have been the cultural capital of the world, instead of the dying and soulless US industrial plantation that it is.

The Poles are so desperate for their past Jewish life, they’re recreating festivals of Jewish music and culture in their cities and towns. You see this all over Europe. You also see the Catholic Churches empty. Instead, we see a new and fast growing movement of Evangelicals in Europe, recognizing their Jewish heritage and spirit. Same in the Latin America. The fastest growing religious group in the Latin America are the Evangelicals. The fastest diminishing religious group are the Catholics.

Hitler made stupid and foolish choices based on stupid and foolish and subpar understanding of economics and basic reality. This is the definition of idiocy. Combine this with the fact that he utterly destroyed Germany and its people with his course of suicidal mania, and we can safely describe him a certifiable idiot. There is no contradiction in also describing him a conniving murderous snake, as it describes his criminal ways. Criminality is really just the action of idiocy combined with lack of wisdom combined with malice combined with satanism, a disrespect and opposition to the character and precepts of YeHeVeH. Hitler fits all of these. Again, you see contradiction where none exists.

Remember this young lady’s parents came to Israel with ZERO. No education, no language, no knowledge of the modern world, no money, no possessions, not even shoes to wear.

Israel first airlifted them in 1984 and provided for them food and shelter and social services, all at the expense of the public. Within a generation you already have people like Oshrat (Osher means happiness in Hebrew) able to climb social heights that only the most well established do in other countries.

Israel nurtured them and we are not surprised that they responded. Even plants know feel and grow better when you love them and show them this love.

I couldn’t agree more that there is much more to the “American mischief in Ukraine” than Hunter Biden. Burisma would not have not needed him on the Board had it not been for Kerry’s State Department pressure on Ukraine to cancel government subsidies and switch to world market prices for gas which of course led to added misery for large swaths of the country’s population, and on the other hand, enormous amounts of extra cash for Burisma to launder. What better way than placing a Biden into a corporate reclining chair to protect Zlochevsky’s millions of untaxed dollars poured into Franklin Templeton Investments in the U.S.?

      • ellipsis January 17, 2020 at 5:16 pm #

In the current environment, do you honestly believe that? The truth is that 33% will believe one way, 33% will believe the other, and 33% won’t give a shit either way. Count me firmly in the latter category.

The better question is whether anyone will give a shit about any of this after the collapse of the empire. The answer to that is more definitive: of course not, other than as possibly a tragic comedy of sorts.

The lesson in all this is that when endemic systemic corruption finally rots through the superstructure of whatever system it’s invaded from within, all sorts of queer happenings inevitably result. The actors in such a play are largely merely playing their parts in a predetermined archetypal play of bathos (to borrow from Mr K) and ultimately pathos, complete with appropriate orchestral accompaniment and attendant (MSM) fanfare.

Better still: will any of this stupidity be remembered in 100 years, a very modest standard of historical relevance? Presumptively speaking for everyone currently alive, I can only hope not. The seemingly fantastical movie Idiocracy comes immediately to mind here.

That’s one of the problems with Trump. He’s just too principled an individual to be able to wade knee deep into the cesspool of either the Ukraine, or Wash DC. Despite all of his well meaning efforts, it’s almost impossible to do a proper and decent job in conducting the affairs of the US, or doing business in the Ukraine. This blogpost of JHK’s goes into the A+ category. JHK is heading for the Dean’s List.

I’m very despondent. The Marxists have taken over our country–been at it since FDR–and, with them controlling gov and our intelligence agencies, the media, our universities, Hollywood, etc. I just don’t know if it is possible to take it back and restore it to the governmental paradigm that our great Founders/Framers created.

  28. JohnAZ January 17, 2020 at 1:38 pm #

I would like to add another viewpoint.

Could it be that Trump has dislocated the primary inspiration for the existence of the Modern Democratic Party?

What I mean is their primary target has always been the poor hapless working man who the big shots pick on all the time so we will protect you. That statement forms the basis for the mass of lies the Democratic elite has always gotten away with.

Trump knew to undermine this idiotic statement, you just needed to present so much economic opportunity to the average Joe that his fear became non-existent. And it has been successful. The average working man and more and more of the Brown folks are deserting the Dem ship as their falsehood presents itself more and more.

The Dems are cats in the corner, they are coming out, claws stretched to try to take down this interloper who is disrupting their plans for uniparty takeover and globalist domination.

I sincerely hope the American public has not lost its mind and sees through this pile of garbage that is currently going on.

I does seem like the Democrats signed a suicide pact that’s now coming full circle and Nancy, in the role of Jim Jones, is passing out the kool-aid. But it was being drafted all thru the Bush years by the Clintons and their corporate friends. Obama was handed the nomination in 2008 with the agreement Hillary could expand her resume (which was pretty thin with only First Long-suffering Lady and Senator) as Secretary of State and then guaranteed the nomination in 2016. But as we know all did not go according to plan. Poor Hillary. Those powerful, selfish men always get what they want, in and out of the bedroom.

I agree — call the witnesses and show its citizens just how grasping, easily corrupted and pretty much incompetent our public servants really are.

I was wondering … after the President is acquitted next Friday, then what?

I was thinking they’ll take up the tax return issue once again, even tho the President has been audited every year since 1985. And since we’re checking tax returns we will have to scrutinize the Biden’s returns too, and make sure all income from Burisima has been entered and accounted for, and all taxes from overseas income has been paid. Sounds fair enough, one tax return for another.

I try to get my head around how politicians think, for example, impeaching Bill over lying under oath about a blowjob. That’s a high crime? Seriously? Yeah, I know, politicians can’t be above the law, but if there was ever a place for prosecutorial discretion, that was it.

Yeah, I know, there was so much to deplore. They said that Bill shouldn’t have abused his position of authority over an underling. That’s assuming there was inappropriate compulsion or that a grown woman is helpless and has no agency of her own. Alternatively, he shouldn’t have put himself in a position of appearing to have abused his position. They say that his his horn-dog behavior demeaned the august office he held, that he set a terrible example, that he betrayed his wife and that he disappointed his young daughter. And all they said was true. So what.

I know, this is a deplorable thought, but this is the real world we live in. And in this real world, the Jack Woltz principle applies, they made President William Jefferson Clinton look ridiculous and a man in Bill’s position cannot be made to look ridiculous.

The point is that Bill’s impeachment, while based on more than a mere frivolity on one level, wasn’t much more than frivolous on other levels. And it changed the behavioral landscape, it set a precedent, it made impeachment based on trifles ok. And a president lying about a blowjob, under oath or no, is a trifle. And while the president cannot be made to look ridiculous as a general principle, impeaching him over trifles makes him look ridiculous. And it makes his accusers and the USA as a whole look ridiculous.

Which brings us to this current imbroglio. The overall appearance of this latest is one of utter, absurd, ridiculousness. Impeaching Trump over what? What’s the high crime? Murder? Theft? Did he rub-out a political opponent? Order beatings? Jailings? Show me.

Was his asking for an investigation of the Bidens a high crime? How so? The least generous take possible on this is that of a grubby politician practicing grubby politics. The most generous take is that of withholding aid until the odor of corruption was dispelled.

Grubby politics is nothing new, if the whole Russia collusion narrative and the subsequent Mueller investigation wasn’t grubby, then we need to revisit some basic definitions and usages of the English language. If all this wasn’t seditious and an abuse of power and office by powerful people in the intel and law enforcement communities, then tell me exactly what this was.

Why does this matter? There are a lot of ruthless people across the waters, the world is bursting with ambitious bully-boys with agendas of their own, aiming for domination, whether it’s the wild-men of ISIS or the hard men in Beijing or Moscow, and they take the measure of their adversaries, meaning Americans and their nation. They look for weaknesses and openings and if you look weak, if your leadership looks weak, then your enemies act accordingly. Think this doesn’t have historical precedent? Look at Hitler’s calculations about his own enemies and Germany’s especially.

And, as Elysianfields tells us, acts of this nature have got wider societal implications. Business as usual? At some point, business as usual comes to a stop.

So show us  high crimes or misdemeanors or get the fuck lost.

This is the clip of Jack Woltz giving Tom Hagen a piece of his mind:

Well, we can agree to disagree on this point. Part of his wild popularity is the notion that he is the bulwark between the vast but declining middle class and a very dark and scary future. Combine this with the perception that the “enemy” did then remove him on what can be considered a trifle, and people might “take it to the streets”….

Did you notice the crowds he generates at every rally? Think removing him will be business as usual?

The problem with calling witnesses is that it is a trap that the Trump defense must try to avoid. Why? Because anyone the GOP/Trump defense team calls to testify will plead the fifth to every single question. You think Hunter Biden or Brennan are going to answer any questions?? I don’t think so. Meanwhile, the witnesses the prosecution/Dems call will testify willingly. It doesn’t take Admiral Akbar to see that this is a trap.

    • ellipsis January 17, 2020 at 5:47 pm #

No doubt some GOP’ers were in on whatever scam they were running too (DC being an equal opportunity corruption environment), so no chance of that.

I’m just amazed that so many on this board still believe that this is a D vs R contest in any sense. This a mere beltway vs an outsider contest over a mere point of order in order to enforce long standing club rules. Trump is a largely inadvertent and unwitting hostile invader/fool into an international old money club of global wealth who must be expelled by whatever means necessary. Period, end of discussion.

Implying that any of this is in any way a left vs right, right vs wrong, capitalist vs socialist, or similar thing in any way is so far of the mark as to be utterly laughable.

Apparently newly formed migrant caravans from Honduras and Guatemala are headed north toward the US border. The message they’ve gotten is not that the streets are paved with gold in El Norte Americano, but the party that has promised free Medicare to illegal immigrants — and free everything else — would win the presidential election in November … why not take a chance? Why not go for it?

        Poor Bill Cosby….

The #MeToo Movement spawned a proliferation of run amok, dangerous sex crime legislation, including the Pennsylvania statute that Cosby was convicted under: “Indecent Assault”. Under this statute, if a bloke gives a woman any kind of drug (alcohol, Weed, Benadryl, etc.) and has sex with her, then there is no consent regardless whether there is in fact objective consent. So if the woman files charges, then the man is fucked Big Time. Under this statute any man who has touched a woman after she’s had a beer or smoked a joint could do years in prison getting attacked daily by Bull Queers….

The fate of unborn millions will now depend, under God, on the courage and conduct of this army. … and meanwhile, Lev Parnas emerges from behind the woodwork and reveals that the endless, stink-to-high-heaven, power-hungry corruption prevailing in the Trump Administration also clearly extends to Pence, Barr, and DeStefano.

You’ve got to wonder exactly what JHK is smoking to not be troubled by any of these kinds of revelations. He will certainly end up on the wrong side of history. And don’t even get me started on all of his hilariously inaccurate predictions since 2009 …

Nobody really care what went down in Ukraine, Doc.

I would like to know, just for hahas, how the Biden’s got $156 million out of there tho. Aren’t you a little bit curious?

Is it Mueller Time again Dr.?

Fake News will get it right this time, right?

      LOL.

    • JohnAZ January 18, 2020 at 12:41 pm #

Lev Parnas is going to be shown to be another lying scumbag recruited by Pelosi and Schumer trying to protect himself from the tornado heading his, Biden’s and who knows who else involved in the Obama scandals. Cannot wait to see him eviscerated in the Senate. My hope is that the liberal Dems are so crushed by this fiasco they will be destroyed or at least so set back on their heels that this coup attempt is never repeated. I would like to see the Clinton, Biden, Soros, Rockefeller, Rothschild coalition broken permanently. Trump promised to drain the swamp, I hope this is his successful mechanism to accomplish the same.

      Janos and SSL

I do not know if you are listening but Trump is getting the wall built in leaps and bounds. Each bolt or nail driven into that wall is a nail driven into the Progressive coffin.

The caravans are starting again. Soros et al trying to exploit the current DC mess and 2020 election to get more controversy at the border. This year we all will have to take sides.

This is how many people react to Trump who is just this weird, Property Developer, casino operator, and former Reality TV show host of that crappy TV show “The Apprentice”. It’s almost as if they’ve created for themselves, through the use of governmental coercion, a totalitarian mental “Safe Space” free from contrary dissonant ideas and when they see or hear anything or anyone (like Trump) that rips the fabric of their mental universe, they then literally start shrieking as in the painting “The Scream”.

    • Pucker January 17, 2020 at 8:57 pm #

And Trump is always there in their narcissistic Progressive social media Mental Mirror that they are forced to look into everyday, always implacably tweeting out Trump’s heresies. With their politically correct Overton Window now the size of a walnut, they’re left shrieking hysterically like a Vampire caught out after sunrise. Trump Derangement Syndrome….

      • Pucker January 17, 2020 at 9:13 pm #

Isn’t that basically what a mental hospital is about?: Creating a very small Overton Window that the inmates can exist within without going mentally Apeshit? America is a Mental Hospital?

Yes, I think the conclusion you have arrived at makes sense. The alleged Land of the Free is becoming one giant prison camp. Though its even more sinister than that. Remember how Bill Ayers? said they would have to cancel at least 25 million White Americans in order to establish their new Marxist order? These were Obama’s “Bitter Clingers” and Hillary’s “Deplorables”

LA, 43 degrees the other day.

      • SoftStarLight January 18, 2020 at 12:09 pm #

Is that unusually cold for LA? The jet stream appears to be disrupted too. Though that probably is due to natural influences I do wonder how much they can change the weather.

        • JohnAZ January 18, 2020 at 1:36 pm #

Polar vortices. Deep incursion to low latitudes by the really cold polar air mass. Some studies show that it may be accentuated by decreasing ice cover on the pole. I would not be surprised if part of it is caused by the increasing temperature gradient from tropics to pole. One thing is for sure, and we are seeing it, the increased contact between the really cold air and the warm humid tropic air makes for some really exciting weather.

          • SoftStarLight January 19, 2020 at 1:00 pm #

Apparently NASA says that sunspot activity will be at its lowest level in over 200 years during 2020. Some say that decreased solar activity weakens the jet stream which results in the major swings you are talking about.

“It is possible that these cold intrusions could become a more regular winter story. This is a hot research topic and is by no means settled, but a handful of studies offer compelling evidence that the stratospheric polar vortex is changing, and that this trend can explain bouts of unusually cold winter weather.”

So ultimately it isn’t settled science though a few studies offer evidence that the polar vortex is changing. The why remains unanswered.

          • GreenAlba January 19, 2020 at 6:29 pm #

That’s right, SSL, unsettled compelling evidence. 🙂

You could have quoted this bit:

“Undoubtedly this new polar vortex attack will unleash fresh claims that global warming is a hoax. But this ridiculous notion can be quickly dispelled with a look at predicted temperature departures around the globe for early this week. The lobe of cold air over North America is far outweighed by areas elsewhere in the United States and worldwide that are warmer than normal.”

Since the trope they mention is a favourite with you and brh.

The Democratic Party is not about to implode at or after the Impeachment Hearings. We have been lied to for years, about how HIllary is going to prison, waves of indictments are about to be released, Comey’s going to jail, Schiff’s going to be forced out of office and All The Democrats are Going to Prison! For years on end. I heard this nonsense in 2016, in 2017, in 2018, in 2019, and now, yet again I hear it in 2020. No matter who wins the presidency this fall, in 2021 I expect to again be told the Democratic Party is about to implode, Hillary, Comey, and so many more are about to go to prison, for real this time, like tomorrow morning. And tomorrow morning comes and some boring Republican report by Barr or someone like him will say there was some wrongdoing but oh well. The beat goes on. So I don’t believe any of it. No fool Indian twice.

And many have hoped for genuine justice no doubt. But the reality is that we live in a post-Constitutional tyranny dominated by Oligarchs and their armies of minions. The vampire analogy works good too since they, the Oligarchs, derive ever increasing wealth and life energy off of the death of their host society. They will never go away voluntarily and they have made it so that our votes don’t mean anything.

Haha and we have been mocked for being superstitious for so long! Yes, Vampires are very real. And there everywhere!

A story showed up this morning say Pelosi is after Barr, calling him a rogue attourney General and a Lackey of Trump.

Ladies and Gents, this IS a coup attempt by the Dem leadership in DC. Pelosi is going all in. Watch for HRC right in the middle of this as Pelosi and Schumer have just screwed over the Dem candidates with the trial. Watch for rustling coming from the Clinton group and for Dem rumblings aimed at Pence. #3 is Pelosi who is a worse choice than all of the candidates.

A Bernie supporter was caught saying that there would be blood in the streets if he is not nominated and elected.

This is getting serious. We are about to lose this country’s Constitutional government to a rogue party or to a revolution.

  42. BackRowHeckler January 18, 2020 at 12:38 pm #

When Congress voted to impeach the president, Trump haters around the state held impeachment parties — yes, it was great fun, we finally got the sonofabitch! Some of these morons actually thought the president would be removed that day, and Hillary would be installed into the office of president.

So now Republicans have scheduled an Acquittal Party, sometime next week. That’ll be great fun too.

    • JohnAZ January 18, 2020 at 12:45 pm #

It would not be a good thing if these two parties met somewhere in the middle. One way or the other, we are heading for a revolution where one side is going to win all the marbles.

      • BackRowHeckler January 18, 2020 at 1:34 pm #

        I don’t think so, JAZ.

They hate us, and believe me, the feelings are mutual.

There is no ‘meeting somewhere in the middle’.

Over at Yale, noted communist and hater of Whitey, Angela Davis, is coming in as a distinguished guest speaker. I may even walk over and see what it’s all about. Love is in the air, apparently. This is the place where contributing $10 to the RNC — and they find out about it — will get you denounced as a Nazi and thrown off campus. Avowed communists are welcome with open arms, however, and given the VIP treatment.

        • JohnAZ January 18, 2020 at 1:48 pm #

The meeting in the middle I was being very tongue in cheek about was between the impeachment parties and the acquittal parties you were talking about.

I agree with you however. The hate quotient is growing as the Deep State assholes face off. This country has only been like this one other time, the 1850s over slavery and the South’s states rights. This time I do not believe I have heard a good description of what all the discord is about, except Trump, which is ludicrous. This, I believe is an attempt by global forces, through the Communist portion of the Democratic Party and a small group of RINOs to throw out the Constitution and bring in a socialistic to Communist State. One clue is that the main characters are all the same Communists from the 60’s and 70’s. Those of us that were there recognize their verbal filth. Young people do not recognize this dark side of the force.

Does Bernie Sanders resemble Emperor Palatine or is it my imagination.

          • Janos Skorenzy January 18, 2020 at 2:21 pm #

A small group of RINOS – as if money and war mongering Republicans carry the fire of the Founding Fathers. You’re delusional.

          • JohnAZ January 19, 2020 at 11:01 am #

You, an advocate of modern national socialism, do not have a clue about the intentions of the Founding Fathers. They wanted as little power in the hands of the central government as possible. They would be appalled at what we are seeing today. Your idea of strong central nationally organized control of the population is the opposite of their opinions. Unfortunately with the way things are going now with immigration and education, who are probably right. The Constitution is slowly becoming shredded and the FF wishes with it.

Vote removal first, uniparty second, global control then socialism, then dissolution?? Or Communism vs. National Socialism? Sounds like Europe circa 1930s.

207 page report from an independent source that lays the mayhem at the feet of police. We can infer that the City was involved as well I should think. Does it matter? No, because the Media controls the narrative and has labeled the cause as “White Supremacy” – just as they have the coming 2nd Amendment rally in Richmond. They’ve gotten such mileage from it, why would they stop now? Unfortunately for them, Conservative Whites have seen thru this ruse and realize that they are simply being make into kulaks. Some are Racists and some are not, but they are united on this much at least.

    • Tate January 18, 2020 at 3:03 pm #

Janos, with a guy like Philip van Cleave in charge of the rally (who bears a remarkable resemblance to Jim Kunstler by the way), the 2A rally carries a huge potential to be good for the gun-grabbers.

      And they know this.

    • JohnAZ January 19, 2020 at 10:30 am #

The cops are scapegoats. A group of Right wingers decided to have a rally, what a perfect setup for Soros’ funded Antifa. They were out recruiting and paying potential rioters for weeks before the meeting.

If people really cared about this BS they would ignore the whole situation.

Not the media though, with out the inflammatory biased reporting and pot stirring, it would not have occurred. Soros feeds on the media.

  44. WayfaringStranger January 18, 2020 at 2:35 pm #

Well maybe that’s a long term goal – to destroy the Democrat party. Trump has made a meaningless shell of the Republican party, now Nancy can do her bit.
And since as you said the normal rules do not apply, and may never apply again that leaves it all wide open for something new. Doing searches on “one world party” and even “one world religion” does not land you on only fringe sites. These are serious goals for some very serious people.
A destroyed Democrat party does not automatically mean a strong Republican party. Remove Trump/Trump Jr. from the equation and who is left on the Rep. side? A bunch of young men struggling for control – Shapiro, Kirk, Fuentes, neo-McCain with an eyepatch.
Normal Democrats have already left the building, AOC & Co. are not Democrats.
It’s already over, we just can’t process this much change and destruction quickly enough to fully realize. It’s just not possible.
And another example – no one has been “facing their accuser” for quite some time now, I’ll be surprised if even Trump does. Nor have we had free speech, and waaaay before that sad passing, the prohibition of illegal search and seizure died a silent and lonely death.
I don’t see a Reset Button anywhere, you know we can’t go home again. Both parties are already dead. These are (fully aware IMO) “transition teams” we’re looking at, and we’re moving full speed ahead to only God knows what.

    TENDING THE GRAVE

The Dems Should be terminated, finished, kaput, tot, given their treachery. But will they be?

The US Constitution has served this democratic republic well for almost 250 years, but it has also allowed the current coup attempt by the Democrats to go on and on. If a Democrat is elected because of this attempted coup, it certainly brings into question the wisdom of adhering to it, and makes the document insidiously ironic, destroying the very nation it was meant to preserve.

The great hope is that most of the American public will see through all of this chicanery and reelect he with the captivating chevelure. But many Republicans continue to defect and join the ever growing army of TWATS. How perilous, to allow the fate of the nation to dangle from thin threads of hope.

The converging events of possible Democratic control of government and the crisis of diminishing resources will hasten the demise of America. Once the Dems gain control, immigration will soar and the time in which whites become the minority will be shortened. The ‘long emergency’ will turn immediate as everyone struggles to survive, and whites will be overrun by gangs of black and brown hordes. White women will fall prey to the black lust, and from time to time we’ll have to unstring our brothers from limbs and lamp posts. All this in about three generations if present trends continue. Maybe a lot sooner.

The cause of death will be Anemia, lack of Iron in the blood.
Whites will become the grave tenders of a dead nation, that old, dead, once great nation incessantly pissed on by the hordes.
We will stealthily look at well hidden photos from the past, pictures of George Washington, Teddy Roosevelt, Thomas Jefferson and Patrick Henry, general George Patton and the like, and yes, some will stare somberly at the face of Hitler himself. But the most painful picture of all will be of the last white man to be president of the United States, the Great Gladiator of Gotham, Donald J. Trump.

Your prophesy is pretty accurate, IMO.

Want to see the future if the Deep State removes the vote Effectiveness from the people.

Look South. The government sits enclosed in Mexico City while the local and state gangs control the country. Illicit trade controls the economy as the regular economy dies off at the hands of the Elite.

Compare our situation today to the situation prior to Reagan/Clinton eras. The income inequality and decline of the manufacturing middle class point right at becoming just another Latino country.

      • JohnAZ January 19, 2020 at 10:49 am #

You and I live in a state that may turn blue in 2020, at least purple. It will become a vanguard in the drift south along with New Mexico and Texas. Why? Proximity! And the immigration of Liberals from California.

California is a small cell carcinoma in the USA body and needs to be excised.

Or let’s just give the Mexican Cession back to Mexico.

Heck, no one east of the Mississippi gives a flip about the West anyway.

          • JohnAZ January 19, 2020 at 12:19 pm #

            Boy, are you wrong!

Socialism is the death knell of this country, IMO.

Why? Because if socialism succeeds to be voted in, it means that the majority of people in this country need socialism and the liberty and individual responsibility credo is gone.

America will be history. And your last statement is absolutely correct. There are many, many people in the world that want the US crushed.

I am a total advocate for the wall, but on both sides. We are a sink for the poor and downtrodden people of the world, so naturally they try to come here. There is no longer any room for them without affecting folks that are already here. If the southern wall is built, they will come flying in from Canada. If we want the US to maintain its integrity in the world, control is paramount. If we determine we need outside help, the governments function is to acquire it. But no more. We are not a relief column for the world like we might have been at one time.

The rotten politics of the Deep State and the Elite have so distorted this country that it IS being destroyed. Socialism is destroying it by allowing phony education and poor immigration to undermine its self reliance. What IS a Latino third world country, anyway?

A group of people dependent on their government to make their decisions for them and take care of them cradle to grave. The fatal discovery though is when they figure out that the government and the Elite do not care about them at all.

You know what they do then? Pack their bags, join a globalist led caravan and try to get into the US. Pretty soon, there will be no Shanghai La to escape to.

          • capt spaulding January 19, 2020 at 12:42 pm #

Well JAZ, I agree with you on the issue of controlling immigration, however, if you want to get rid of socialism, you’ll have to immediately go after social security, which is about as socialist a program as you can come up with. Somehow, I’m guessing that the old conservatives who all hate socialism, can find good reasons to exempt SS and Medicare from the government axe. However, for those of you who feel that socialism spells the death knell of this country, you will find that Trump and his friends are solidly behind you in your thinking. It makes no sense to give old people money that could better be spent on tax breaks for the wealthy, who will immediately create new jobs for Americans, and bring bounteous prosperity back to the country. It’s a shame that people don’t realize how easily this country could be turned around, with a little help from the proper quarters. People have it too easy anyway.

          • SoftStarLight January 19, 2020 at 1:30 pm #

John are you even sure you’re really speaking about socialism? If we are to have complete and total control of our borders then a large government is required to manage that. And yet given our situation, total control of our borders is so badly needed. And you say socialism is responsible for kids receiving phony education which leads me to believe you wouldn’t have a problem if kids were actually being educated and not indoctrinated. If we stay together we are a big country so a big government is just going to happen. It sounds like what you are really getting at is the problem of corruption and values and human nature which makes government bad. And in that department we do need lots of work clearly. We need new management. And please lets start where we agree. Close immigration down.

          • JohnAZ January 19, 2020 at 3:10 pm #

            Capn

You are right about SS and Medicare. I get both. I “saved” my money through payroll taxes for 45 years to get both, just like everyone else. Remember the main reason for both in the first place. To protect people from themselves. Today’s state of savings is a recurrence of history, we would have folks starving after 65 without a mandatory system. If we are a society that is satisfied with 4-5 times the homeless situation we have now, then both systems would be unnecessary. One comment, both systems are very well administered.

            SSL

How about this? Take all the military out of the Middle East and put them on the border. Build the wall and then thin out the necessary border patrol. Have it all administered locally or by the states. Federal government SHRINKS!

Make the primary purpose of all the agencies to become more efficient. Reduce their manpower. Administer more efficiently. Federal government SHRINKS!

Some immigrants are needed. Our entry level MD population is manned by lots of foreigners. Why? Why are there not more MDs being generated here? Why not more engineers? Look at that education system for the answers. I like your word, indoctrination! Also, we are pulling in so many immigrants that are ignorant, not their fault, that they cannot compete for the jobs opening. Welfare claims a lot of them. We are seeing the results filling the streets too.

Why is it happening? Because a raft of assholes are clamoring for power in DC called the Deep State that are no.1, diluting out the education system with indoctrination and just out and out BS and no.2, trying to pull in more and more ignorant immigrants for a cheap labor pool and to be loyal followers of their patrons in DC.

Socialism is not necessary if the government was well run, which is exactly why it isn’t. Anything getting in the way of people’s liberty and independence is evil, IMO.

          • SoftStarLight January 19, 2020 at 3:33 pm #

Well see that’s just it. So ok, if you left border enforcement up to a state like California the way things are now there would be no border at all. Even GOP governors are begging for more refugees no matter what the voters who put them in want. So there has to be a relevant central authority on the matter or there won’t be a functioning country. And no we don’t need immigrants but we do need a healthier more physically and mentally fit population. You talk about how generations have been brainwashed and I believe you. I believe the Elite want a population of addicts and generally helpless people. Control is so much easier that way. So you are going to have to be willing to invest in your fellow citizens. And to the extent we need foreigners for anything it has to be very controlled and limited. America First either means just that in every way or it means nothing.

          • Nightowl January 19, 2020 at 3:48 pm #

Social security requires that one pay into it, meaning that one has to make a contribution to the economy.

Much different than a hand-out, or whatever some might call it.

I fail to see how this is “socialist.” Programs like this are a normal part of a mixed economy.

Soros himself doesn’t get his hands dirty as he has eager underlings to carry out his dirty work.

Incidentally, have you been following events in NYC, no suspects held on bail — even serious felons — but released back onto the streets, many of whom immediately commit more crimes? Daily News and the NYPost are covering it pretty good, only 3 weeks in and some of the stories are unbelievable.

Of course that would be for all of the world’s population but them. They will still have a privileged, jetsetting, secure life no matter what happens. At least that’s the plan.

As if Obama and John Kerry would spend a combined $25 million on oceanfront mansions on the Vineyard, built 200 ft from the beach, if sea level rise was really an issue. Goddam liars.

The mouthpieces, megaphones, and handmaidens of the Republican regime cannot defend Trump on the facts, or on any level. His corrupt behaviour has been proven beyond doubt, mostly from the perps themselves directly involved.

    So what do they do?

    1. They say “So What?” – it’s no big deal.

    2. They use raw power, in the Senate, the DOJ, the federal courts – anywhere they can – to thwart serious investigation – they even blow off court orders or Congressional subpoenas, as if they are polite invitations to a birthday party.

    3. They engage all their “mates” in the mainstream and cable media – creating a vast sea of calm – it doesn’t matter how crazy, wild, drugged up, medicated down, or dementia riddled the Dumpster sounds and looks, they carry on like everything is normal.

    4. But most of all they go full-bore conspiracy against the Democratic Party past and present. This is of course where JHK comes in, wearing his tinfoil pith helmet, and thigh-length boots so he can wade through the Republican swamp.

No doubt JHK has a way with words, but far too often his hatred of all things Democratic sends his columns into the same paddock as all the other low-rent right-wing nutters … today is a good example of that.

And even if everything JHK has asserted today in respect of Democratic Party shenanigans – in Ukraine and elsewhere – is solid-gold true, it all pales into a tiny little ripple compared to the huge whirlpool of criminality, malfeasance, incompetence and straight theft undertaken by the Trump crime family and so many of the Republican Party.

But where is the fairness and balance? There is never any criticism of this most dreadful of presidents … it’s all about old history of past players on the Democratic side.

Give it up James … use your considerable skills and energy to bring Trump to account – he most definitely should be impeached.

But I must agree on one thing – the solemn death-march of the Dem “Managers” was one of the funniest things I have seen for a while – and while we shouldn’t ridicule the lame, Jerry Nadler’s waddle really did heighten the hilarity of it all.

    • Nightowl January 19, 2020 at 3:50 pm #

Name the crime POTUS has committed and provide concrete evidence for said crime.

Let’s see if you can succeed where a team of Lawfare douchebags working for over 2 years failed.

Lay it all out for us, Cargill.

      • Cargill January 19, 2020 at 10:19 pm #

I expect you’re doing one or both of these things:

        1. Denying the overwhelming evidence that Team Trump pressured the Ukrainian leaders to publicly “investigate” Hunter|Joe Biden, or the $400m in military aid would be stopped – as it was – unlawfully (ie criminally);

        and / or

        2. Asserting – against every thinking legal commentator in the land – that the extortion threat and the withholding of Congress-approved funding isn’t a crime, and isn’t an impeachable offence.

I think both these positions are untenable, dishonest, and examples of hyper-partisan denial.

Have you no sense of greater good? Do you want a system of governance where indictment can’t happen, impeachment can’t happen, courts can be abused, subpoenas can be ignored?

In other words, a system where any rogue president is above the law and can’t be held accountable?

If Trump were “innocent”, there would have been cogent and rational testimony to establish that – a long line of White House witnesses, etc. But when you’re guilty, your only defence is to argue that the system finding you guilty is totally corrupt.

I can see why Trump has to resort to that – what I find astonishing (and unacceptable) is that Republican politicians and people who write on blogs like this, toe the same line.

Why defend Trump – if it were the other way round he’d drop you like a rock – as he has thousands of people in his lifetime.

Let’s call up Hunter Biden and the Podesta’s as witnesses, examine their role in Ukraine. Let’s get it all out there.

      • Cargill January 20, 2020 at 12:01 am #

I doubt that will happen – the only way for McConnell to retain control of this is to have no witnesses – it will be a trail in name only … like a higher court dismissing an appeal from a lower-court trial.

        Except there hasn’t been a trial yet – just a grand-jury indictment.

Personally I think calling Hunter|Joe Biden would backfire on the Republicans, and of course once you start calling those sorts of barely relevant players, then it would be hard to stop appearances by those much more closely involved – Bolton, Mulvaney, etc.

Not sure the Republicans want that.

Everything is opinion, everything. The real evil presence here IS the media. We talk frequently about a civil war here, the MSM job, in their eyes, is to promote one. Like 1850’s.

Uh, JHK is a Democrat! Just not a Progressive nut and cognizant of what the Progressive nut wing of the Democratic Party want to do.

As fineline pointed out recently, you’re tripping over the crimes & evidence, but you choose not to see it. Don’t try to kid me that you haven’t been aware of the GOA report.

No doubt, your response to this will be a parroting of the WH position which is Himself “did nothing wrong”, as if a simple denial of the facts is sufficient to put the matter to rest.

Possibly, you’ll stoop to calling the GOA partisan, as the WSJ did recently, but it doesn’t change the fact that the withholding of aid was unlawful.

          https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2020/01/withholding-ukraine-aid-broke-the-law-gao-concludes.html

“The Trump administration broke federal law when it held back security aid from Ukraine last year, the nonpartisan Government Accountability Office (GAO) said in a decision released Thursday.

The $391 million in aid, which was already appropriated by Congress, was held up by the White House’s Office of Management and Budget last summer at President Trump’s request.

“Faithful execution of the law does not permit the President to substitute his own policy priorities for those that Congress has enacted into law,” the watchdog group said in its decision. “O.M.B. withheld funds for a policy reason, which is not permitted under the Impoundment Control Act.”

            Majella

Talk all you want. What happened did not break an impeachable law. It is all opinion. The Dems say it is the GOP says it is not. The horrible record of the lying Dems in the House influences me accentuated by a horrible MSM.

The impeachment requirements are so nebulous that a divergence of opinion is unavoidable. Myself, I think Trump did a dumb thing mentioning Biden’s name in the conversation. It gave the Dems an out in their quest to find something, anything to get Trump with. I do not believe there is a whistleblower at all, it is a fabrication to get the ball rolling. Trump immediately put out the transcript showing what was said. From that point, it is all opinion, political opinion. Mine, yours, everyone’s. The Senate will make the decision. The civil war will NOT be over. The Civil War will not be over even if Trump is removed, this country will not go socialist. What are you going to try to do to Pence? He can beat any of the Dem candidates!

    Some Extermination History :

Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.

Josef Stalin, the sole leader of the Soviet Union from 1924 to 1953, said:
“If the opposition disarms, well and good. If it refuses to disarm, we shall disarm it ourselves.”

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Mao Tze Tung, communist dictator of China said:
“War can only be abolished through war, and to get rid of the gun it is necessary to take up the gun.”
China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Idi Amin, president of Uganda from 1971 to 1979, said:
“I do not want to be controlled by any superpower. I myself consider myself the most powerful figure in the world, and that is why I do not let any superpower control me.”

Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Pol Pot, who created in Cambodia one of the 20th century’s most brutal and radical regimes, was responsible for killing one million of his own ‘educated,’ yet unarmed citizens.

    REVOLT OF THE MACHINES

Last week I posted about my dead toaster. Since it passed on to the great toaster graveyard (the town dump), I’ve been using my super-duper stainless steel Cuisinart toaster oven. It toasts fine, except yesterday the pull-out crumb tray got jammed into the device and won’t slide out, and every time I used it I had to carry the whole damn thing and shake it out in the sink. Now I’m opening it up after each use by prying it out with a screwdriver.

As if that wasn’t enough, streaming on my tv suddenly went flooey. I was using You Tube TV, and suddenly the tv says it canceled my account because it believes I’m located in Tulsa, even though I say I’m in the Boston area, so therefore I must be a hacker or a malicious AI or something like that.

Joseph Tainter is correct: A civilization collapses when it becomes too complex. Which is sad to me, because I’m a techie and like this complicated stuff. Now I’m wondering if I would be better off in a world made by hand.

Deep down we know it would all be so much better, so much more worth it if things were simple and to the point. But we can’t help the fascinatiion with the complex and complicated. The drive and belief whether real or not that we can always make everything better, faster, more advanced, etc. When at the end of the day everybody wants to find their Willoughby.

If we had the wisdom to use the machines and then leave them alone, it would be one thing. But we do not. They have grown, but we have not.

That’s perhaps my favorite trope from Science Fiction: The Enterprise or whoever goes to a simple world only to slowly realize the people there are fantastically advanced, but choose to live simply because it’s more pleasurable and/or healthy.

” There are many reasons why you have arrived at this impeachment nonsense , but certainly one cardinal reason was your loathsomely and diabolically teaching an entire society that playing Judas is a virtue. ”

Your phrasing makes me wonder if we are on the same page.

” Joseph’s brothers sold him as a slave to spice traders for 20 pieces of silver (Gen. 37:28) who were on their way to Egypt. Reuben, the oldest brother, had convinced the others not to kill him, but rather to cast him into a pit. The Bible says that he intended to save him later and return him to his father, Jacob. However, while Reuben was away, Judah said,

…to his brothers, “What profit is it for us to kill our brother and cover up his blood? “Come and let us sell him to the Ishmaelites and not lay our hands on him; for he is our brother, our own flesh.” And his brothers listened to him.

This was the original pattern of betrayal. It came at the hands of Judah. Judah is the Hebrew form of the Greek name, Judas. They are the same name. Judas was named after the son of Jacob named Judah, and he did the works of his father.

This has its New Testament counterpart in the fact that Judas sold Jesus into the hands of the chief priests in Jerusalem–who were, as Paul tells us in Gal. 4:25, spiritual Ishmaelites. Paul says that we are to cast out the bondwoman and her son, even as Judas was cast out and his office taken by another. ”

Judas’ counterpart in our day are those who are selling us [ or buying ] into a middle-east war to “hurry along” their version of prophecy.

” There are many reasons why you have arrived at this impeachment nonsense , but certainly one cardinal reason was your loathsomely and diabolically teaching an entire society that playing Pavlik Morozov is a virtue. ”

There was a movie in the early 1980’s called , ” Prince of the City “.

Supposedly based on a true story , but never mind that , you could take it as a simple morality tale. ( And it wasn’t that great a drama either. More like two hours of tedium. but that isn’t the point either. )

It starts out this cop in New York city is just gong to rat out some bad apples , some other cops who are crooked as shit.

Two hours later in the movie he has learned that , no , it isn’t going to end at rating out some crooked cops.

Before it is done they will have you ratting out your mother , and you ‘ll be damned hard pressed not to , because it turned out that the throat you slit was your own.

It was YOU that you undermined when you went rifling through that other guys dirty laundry and then aired it.

The only ultimate benefit ? The fat cats got fatter , which was the real motive all along.

      Middle East politics ?

As i have said before , in my view , it is the Christian Kingdoms of Jerusalem and Antioch Part II.

Which is to say , that in this regard the folks of 800 years ago had more fucking sense at least on this score than the current bunch.

The Crusaders came to the conclusion that it was a bridge too far , and that was at a time when white people were breeding like rabbits , and Bethlehem and Jericho actually meant something to them.

I don’t know , money and technology has actually made people really fucking stupid ?

My best friend is a lawyer.

    But I don’t disagree.

As I have said before , near as I can tell , with the possible exception of Ford and Carter , every president since Nixon has come under criminal investigation.

Anyone who thinks that any of that has amounted to anything except to make already rich lawyers , richer , really should pull their head out of their ass.

I told my friend that I cheered when she graduated law school , because I figured it would then be incrementally easier for her to pay the grocery bill.

THAT is ALL it meant to me ; A way for her to pay her grocery bill.

I reminded her that I am a monarchist , not because I believe there is any substance in class or status , but precisely because I believe there is none at all.

All meritocracy and egalitarianism have done is muddy the waters worse than they already were.

Honestly , I would rather see another thousand people added to the welfare rolls , than see another thousand law school graduates.

The whole thing has become a dangerously top – heavy parasitism.

In Paganism, the King is descended from the gods. In Christianity, the King is the soul chosen by God to be born into that family and position.

Thus you are outside Tradition, both Pagan and Christian. You are both the Prophet and the Follower of your own religion, namely Kesaism.

No substance in class or status? Huh? As if the poor are as smart as the rich? Or more virtuous than them? Not that that would be hard, but in point of fact, they are not. They are dumber and they are envious.

Too many Chiefs and not enough Indians in other words. It would seem that society does waste an awful lot of time convincing people they are Chiefs before they’ve even convinced themselves they were Indians. It is true that things that are earned are generally more appreciated than things that are given. Some people do work harder than others. Just because greed motivated them doesn’t take away from the merit of the time and energy expended. And if motivations are loftier than that then recognition is in order. A healthy society, just like a healthy body, requires each of its parts to function properly in order to achieve optimal performance. So there definitely can be substance in class or status but that is dependent on the individual and their actions and how they are perceived by the society.

“I reminded her that I am a monarchist , not because I believe there is any substance in class or status , but precisely because I believe there is none at all.”

Couldn’t agree more – so long as royals don’t take themselves seriously, and understand that they are there as symbols only, with no power, then they can serve a useful purpose.

And significant research has shown that limited constitutional monarchies (UK, Scandinavia, Japan, much of the Commonwealth via proxy, etc) function better long-term than those with elected presidents.

You only need someone to cut ribbons at new schools, hand out medals once a year, and meet other dignitaries at the Airport. I’ve never understood why you need more than that.

The problem with elected presidents, is that they tend to get a sense of their importance, and try over time to accrue more and more power or influence – it becomes a struggle with the people’s house.

Personally I think the US Constitution is the worst of the worst – and how could it be anything else? It was cobbled together in an exercise of massive compromise and much squabbling among very inexperienced people with vested interests – designed by committee.

The worst error – they imbued the president with far too much power from the outset – they created a de facto monarch because they couldn’t think of anything else, and they have been paying a heavy price ever since.

Same in each individual state – but worse: run by either the good ole boys or the Democratic Party machine … blech.

The American people – and American society – arguably would have been far better off not having a violent revolution, and moved towards a peaceful evolved independence, particularly as George III entered his dotage.

A parliamentary system – but dealing with slavery was always going to be difficult. I guess two separate countries might have worked – at least for a few more generations – by which time slavery would have been uneconomic anyway.

To be fair, the latter usually arises out of their personal need for the former.

They can’t be all bad, can they? 🙂

    Keas Anna

Your posts remind one of the insights found in Eric Hoffer’s books, specifically ‘Reflections on the human Condition’, and ‘True Believer, Thoughts on the Nature of Mass Movements’.

They show a remarkable understanding of human nature, and poignant conclusions thereof, reached without a lot bullsh#t, worthless academic study.
