Hello & thanks for visiting! I'm a cross-disciplinary researcher working at the intersection of law, design, and computer science.
I'm interested in how digital technologies are used in public law, policy-making and legal practice. My recent work has focused on Rules as Code, AI-driven 'legal tech', and design patterns.
More broadly, my research has been focused on the impact of design on democracy and the Rule of Law. I call this perspective digisprudence, and have written about it in articles, my PhD, and my open access book Digisprudence: Code as Law Rebooted (Edinburgh University Press 2022).
For more info, see About me.
I’m currently looking for a new role in policy, design, or research, ideally focusing on the role and governance of AI and computation in policy-making, legal/legislative practice, or government. If you know of anything that might suit, please get in touch!
