About this event

We are delighted to announce LGBT Irelands Pride 2022 Healthcare Conference to be held on Friday, June 3rd at the RCSI (Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland) on St. Stephens Green from 9:30am – 2:00pm.

Bringing together members of the LGBTQ community, Health and Social Care Professionals, Advocates and Community Supports as well as key policy and decision makers we will explore how we can support the development of an inclusive healthcare system in Ireland and transform the care experience of older LGBTQ+ people.

With special thanks to our venue sponsors the Equality, diversity and inclusion Department in RCSI .

We are excited to share the details of this year’s event and will shortly confirm the speaker line-up.

9.30am – 10.00am: Registration & Networking: Tea & Coffee will be available in the Board Room of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland

10.00am – 10.15am: Welcome

10.15am – 11.00am: Panel: Visibility Older Members of the LGBTQ community will reflect on their journey accepting their identities and consider what they wished the people they interact with in Health, Social & Community Care settings understood about aging as a member of the LGBTI+ community.

11.00am – 11.20am: Address from Minister of State for Mental Health and Older People Mary Butler TD

11.20am – 12.00pm: Panel: Inclusion Members of LGBT Irelands Champions Network from a diverse background Health, Social and Community care services relied on by older people will reflecting on their practice since undertaking the LGBT Champions Programme to assess what has stayed with them and influenced how they carry out their responsibilities and how they have brought about change within their services.

12.00pm – 12.15pm: Break: Tea & Coffee will be available in the Board Room of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland

12.15pm – 1.00pm: Panel: Equality Policymakers, Advocates and Academics will consider what systemic supports already exist within Quality and Safeguarding frameworks to ensure barriers to access are removed and individuals’ identities are respected, and what needs to happen to enable broader systemic change.

1.00pm – 1.20pm: The LGBT Champions Action Plan: What actions can you take back to your services to being embedding changed.

1.20pm – 2.00pm: Closing and Thank You, followed by Lunch & NetworkingJoin us for lunch in the Board Room of RCSI for lunch.
