This form is meant for new doctoral students who have been accepted to the University of Eastern Finland. You can find the registration instructions for doctoral students in Kamu (link opens in a new tab).

The information on this form will be saved in the student register of the University of Eastern Finland. Once the study right has been saved in the student register, you can activate your UEF account (link opens in a new tab) and gain access to the university's electronic systems. New students activate their UEF user account with their Finnish online banking credentials. If you do not have Finnish online banking credentials, please contact the Digital Services. You can find their contact information in the link above.

If you have a Finnish personal identity code (henkilötunnus in Finnish) write it below. If not, write your date of birth (dd/mm/yyyy). Your identity will be checked when you register (driver’s license, passport or some other form of official ID).

If you do not have an address in Finland, leave the Address in Finland fields blank. If your permanent home address is in Finland, write your Finnish address as both your Finnish and permanent home address.

The Student and Learning Services’ customer service must be notified of any changes to your personal information. Once you have a working UEF user account, you can update your contact information in the student data system Peppi. Only the Student and Learning Services can change your name in the register.

Registration

The academic year begins on 1 August and ends on 31 July. The academic year consists of two semesters, the autumn semester (from 1 August to 31 December) and spring semester (from 1 January to 31 July). Tick the appropriate box to register as present or as absent. If your study right begins in the autumn semester, you register for both autumn and spring semester. If your study right begins in the spring semester, you only register for the spring semester.

Only those who register as being present and have a valid study right can pass courses or complete a degree.

A new student may only register as being absent in their first year of studies if they have a statutory reason for absence. You can find information on statutory reasons for absence as well as the instructions for providing the required documentation in Kamu (link opens in a new tab).

NOTE! If your study right begins during the spring semester, you cannot register for the following autumn semester with this form, but you you need to register for the next academic year during the next registration period following the registration instructions for enrolled students (link opens in a new tab).

Student Union membership

Doctoral students may join the Student Union if they so choose by paying the voluntary Student Union membership fee.

Please note that doctoral students are not entitled to the same student benefits as undergraduate students.
