New lava delta forming at La Palma, over 2 600 homes destroyed since the start of eruption, Canary Islands
New lava flows produced by the eruption at Cumbre Vieja, La Palma, Canary Islands reached the ocean near Los Guirres at 18:00 UTC on November 9, 2021, forming a new lava delta.
As of 07:14 UTC on November 9, lava flows were extending across 999.6 ha (2 470 acres), with 5 additional ha (12 acres) in 12 hours.
A total of 2 605 buildings were destroyed since the start of the eruption.

The emission of sulfur dioxide (SO2) associated with the volcanic plume continues to be high, with values between 9 000 and 13 000 tons per day, but its evolution over time reflects a downward trend.
Regarding seismicity, it remains low compared to previous weeks and continues to be located in the same areas, at depths between 10 and 15 km (6.2 – 9.3 miles) and greater than 20 km (12.4 miles).
Spanish Department of Homeland Security said a navy ship is scheduled to arrive to La Palma today and help farmers affected by the eruption to tend to their crops.
