Strong M6.3 earthquake hits the Rat Islands at intermediate depth, Alaska

A strong earthquake registered by the USGS as M6.3 hit the Rat Islands, Aleutian Islands, Alaska at 23:38 UTC on June 4, 2022. The agency is reporting a depth of 105 km (65 miles). EMSC is reporting M6.4 at a depth of 100 km (62 miles).

The epicenter was located 348.3 km (216.4 miles) W of Adak, U.S., and 1 221 km (759 miles) ESE of Klyuchi, Russia.

There are no people living within 100 km (62 miles).

The USGS issued a Green alert for shaking-related fatalities and economic losses. There is a low likelihood of casualties and damage.
