CRN Kent, Surrey and Sussex

NIHR Clinical Research Network Kent, Surrey and Sussex provides funding for health and care research projects across the region. Our goal is to promote high quality research opportunities for patients in health and social care settings. The research we support is carried out in NHS Trusts across the region, as well as in universities, schools, care homes, and local government organisations.

Who we are

As the NIHR’s Clinical Research Network (CRN) we work closely with NHS Trusts and other healthcare and social care providers across Kent, Surrey and Sussex to support the setup and timely delivery of commercial and non-commercial research studies.

The wider NIHR organisation is dedicated to providing support to researchers at every stage of their study - from design through to delivery.

Our job is to support the delivery of research. This means providing the researcher with the support they need throughout the delivery phase of the study. This includes:

  • Providing training in various aspects of research delivery
  • Facilitating a region-wide network of research practitioners, who can share knowledge and experience
  • Support with participant recruitment

It is also the role of the CRN to promote opportunities for people to participate in and be involved in research.

Leadership

Professor Geeta Menon Clinical Director and Dr Mark Hill, Co-Clinical Director provide the clinical and operational leadership of the Kent, Surrey and Sussex network.

Our Chief Operating Officer is Dr Joanne Zamani, and our Deputy Chief Operating Officer is Julia Simister.

The CRN KSS clinical leadership consists of a team of Specialty Research Leads and Sub-specialty Research Leads, who promote our research portfolio development through collaborative working across our partner organisations.

Our Research Delivery Managers work closely with the research teams and Research and Development (R&D) departments to ensure that recruitment targets are achieved.
