Upcoming industrial action
Dear Student,
I would like to make sure you are aware that next Thursday, 20 February 2020,we will enter a period of industrial action. This will involve some members of our staff being on strike on a number of days in February and March.
This is not unique to our University – it is part of a national dispute over the issues of pay and pensions, with 74 universities in the UK expected to be affected by the action. Since the last round of action in late 2019, negotiations have continued between the trade union and the employers’ association but, so far, this has not led to a resolution.

Industrial action is always difficult for a University community. But please let me assure you that our students are at the heart of all that we do, and we have an unwavering commitment to providing you with an excellent education. We will be working exceptionally hard to minimise any negative impact of this industrial action on you, and we will continue to keep you informed.

When is the industrial action taking place?
The planned strike action will take place on the following dates:
Week One: 20 and 21 February
Week Two: 24, 25, 26 February
Week Three: 2, 3, 4, 5 March
Week Four: 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 March
