April 2019: Happy Easter!

Champions in Focus: Remy Welosowski

Remy Wesolowski announced as Corporate South London and Maudsley STAR.
Physical Health Programme Specialist and Mind and Body Champion, Remy Wesolowski, won the South London and Maudsley STAR award for the Corporate directorate.
Remy was presented with her South London and Maudsley STAR certificate and badge by Chief Executive Dr Matthew Patrick last week at a celebration with her team.

"It's great that the mind and body are being treated as a whole package. By providing a holistic approach to care, our patients can have a better quality of life. As a Champion, it's so important that we continue to drive the good work we are all doing, but also to stop and celebrate the successes we have already made" - Remy.

Staff who nominated Remy for the award said she "works hard to create systems and opportunities to improve physical health" and "not only listens to the challenges her clinical and operational colleagues face but actively hears and responds to them".

How can I learn how to manage everyday stress?

Learning to handle stress in healthy ways is very important. These include recognising and changing the behaviours that contribute to stress, as well as techniques for reducing stress once it has occurred. Some top tips include identifying triggers and warning signs early on, establishing routines, noticing your 'self talk' and actively practising relaxation when possible, physically and mentally.

Recognise – Know the causes and watch for the warning signs of compassion fatigue.
Reduce – Undo the damage by managing stress and seeking support.
Resilience – Build your resilience to stress by taking care of your physical and emotional health.
