GEI is an inclusive partnership committed to developing country-owned, sustainable monitoring and evaluation (M&E) frameworks and capacities. While the number of countries with high-quality national development strategies aligned with Agenda 2030 has doubled over the past decade, only one-third of these countries have the data and systems needed to monitor the implementation of policies and to evaluate their impact. Along with increasing vulnerability to the shocks caused by the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, this global gap in monitoring and evaluation (M&E) capacities risks holding many countries back from attaining the SDGs.
