Microsoft Office Sounds is a plugin for the Microsoft Office package, compatible with Office 2003, 2007 and XP, which adds sounds to the utilities included in these productivity suites.
The add-in will give you audio cues while you work with Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint or Word. You may consider this aspect to make your work more interesting or simply useful in keeping your attention awake.

After downloading the plugin, you must activate it from the Tools-Options section. Using the Windows Control Panel, respectively the Sounds and Audio Devices section, you are able to deactivate certain sounds or replace them with other audio signals.

Audio cues will be associated with actions such as zooming-in or out, working with toolbars or dialog boxes, editing actions, e-mail sending. The sounds are chosen well enough so that they do not become tiring. However, you can choose to deactivate the plugin at any time.

Briefly, Microsoft Office Sounds is a useful add-in that comes with enjoyable sounds for the applications included in the Microsoft Office suite.

Review summary

Pros

  • Useful to those who prefer that feedback given by an utility be not only visual but audio also

Cons

  • Since it will overlap sounds from other applications (such as music players), you may have to deactivate it quite often

What a shame Microsoft does not have sounds for their Word 2013! Can't believe they "improve" programs by omitting older features.
