The theme of the competition is:

How to change our world for the better: How my open research or teaching addresses societal challenges.

The finalists will present their projects in a lightning presentation format. You can view the Call for Submissions here: https://library.gmit.ie/oscg2022/. Deadline for submissions is 22 March.

Research students/teams from Ireland and beyond were invited to submit their research in progress or findings for consideration for the second Open Scholarship Research Prize. The Prize recognises the substantial contribution that Open Scholarship makes to the betterment of science and society. Researchers improve society and research generally through making research more accessible, transparent are reproducible. 

The Open Scholarship Prize 2022 will be hosted by the Atlantic Technological University (ATU) in partnership with the Open Scholarship Community Galway (OSCG) and NUI Galway. The Prize jury will be chaired by Dr Cóilín Minto.

The new Atlantic Technological University for the West and North-West of Ireland will be one of the largest multi-campus universities on the island, bringing together students, enterprise and communities spanning a unique geographical region in transition. The new TU has been formed by the Connacht-Ulster Alliance (CUA) of GMIT, LYIT and IT Sligo. Central to the mission of the new TU is support for Open Science and Open Scholarship. Researchers  from across the CUA continue to support the OSCG mission in the region.  

Prizes will be presented to the equivalent value of €500 for First Place, €300 for Second Place and €200 for Third Place.
