About this app

With Animal Tracker, you can follow the movements of wild animals all over the world that are being tracked in near-real time! These movements are collected by tiny GPS tags carried by the animals and are stored at Movebank, a free online infrastructure used by hundreds of researchers to manage, share, analyze, and archive animal movement data. You can easily participate in our scientific research projects: Upload your real-life observations and photos of our tagged animals to Animal Tracker. Your observations are crucial for our scientists! We can determine the positions of the tagged animals but we are lacking behavioral observations - we can interpret our data much better with your additional observations. Therefore: become a scientist, become an Animal Tracker!

Great app! My points of criticism: - list of species should be searchable and also match on languages other than the UI display language - app language should be freely configurable, independent from Android's default language - map view should provide a time slider, so I can't only track the movements of an individual selected animal, but also be able to see all tracked animals within a certain timeframe/area - "Visit our website" in Settings > About is a 404

There seems to only be a handful of active)up to date trackers. Everything is mostly years out of date so you can finish the app in one sitting šŸ¤”. Filter by activate in last week to get the most out of the tracking

The app is ok but the database of species is fairly limited, I suppose limited by how many animals have been tagged and their tagging info shared. Many of the negative reviews are rediculous. People are expecting this app to be able to track their cat. How do they think the technology works that it can miraculously track a cat without a radio collar?
