Scotland’s National Games Strategy – Get Involved

Studios, Colleges, Universities, Freelancers and ALL Games-Related Companies Welcome

A series of workshops are being held across the country – and online – to ensure the whole games ecosystem has a chance to provide data and input to create Scotland’s National Games Strategy – and we need your help.

Announced in February 2024, the strategy will aim to create a far greater understanding of and support for Scotland’s games sector, to create a more connected, collaborative and successful games ecosystem.

The Scottish Games Network is working with the Tech Scaler Network to bring workshops to Dundee, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling and Aberdeen, with sessions in the Highlands, Borders and Elgin (as part of the Moray Game Jam) also taking place.

Workshops

The workshops are two-hour hands-on sessions, which will ask participants to give their input on the scope and scale of the national strategy: What needs to be included? What should the scope of the strategy be?

We’ll be asking what recommendations can be made to government, parliament and the public sector to increase knowledge and build better, more focused support for the whole games ecosystem – now and in the long-term.

We need your help and your input to produce something which represents the whole games community across Scotland.

How To Get Involved…

The workshops are all free to attend and are open to everyone working in, or involved in game development, production, publishing, education, academia and all adjacent sectors (animation, music, esports, creative industries, screen, tech, etc.)

Scotland’s National Games Strategy

This is our opportunity to reimagine the games ecosystem in Scotland and transform the way it is recognised and supported. The strategy needs to be a piece of work supported by the whole games community – from the smallest indies to the major studios, from schools and colleges to universities and academia.

Please come to one (or more) of the workshops. We know March is a busy month for everyone across the games world, but we want to get something drafted as soon as we can and your input is invaluable.

If you have any questions, would like more information, or would like to help in some way, please contact us directly.

Thank you,

~ Brian
