About this event

With a global shift in the economic centre of gravity, a change in administration in the USA, questions are being asked, is this the end of disengagement with Africa? Why America and not China? Who needs who? Is the relationship symmetrical or asymmetrical? And since AGOA, have trade relations created winners and losers?

Join the Development and Alumni Relations Division at Stellenbosch University and the University of Stellenbosch Business School at an online event on Tuesday, 14 September 2021 with Prof. André Roux, Head of Future Studies, and Prof. Meshach Aziakpono, professor of Development Finance as they take us through these great questions, the opportunities and risks for Africa and trade with the North America’s what lessons can Africa learn to strengthen her future.

The future of Africa's commercial, social and political relations with the global north is due for an upgrade. Whether you are in business, government or civil society, join us as we interrogate perceptions and provide an update of possibilities.
