Enrolment normally opens a week or two before your course starts, for dates browse our enrolment timetable.
It is important to enrol by your teaching start date or research course start date to fully engage in your studies.
If your arrival is delayed please contact your team immediately to discuss your plans.
Your IT account gives you access to University apps, for example your email, Intranet (enrolment, student record, timetable), Canvas (online module and course content), eVision RMS (research student progression).
You can enrol via the app and is your home for all things Swansea University, including emails, timetables, campus maps and much more. The MySwansea App is easy to use. Once downloaded, just enter your university login details to get started.

Login to My account and tap the Intranet icon, upload your photo and we will have your card ready for collection.
For your photo to be accepted it will need to be:
a recent headshot of you on your own facing forward and looking straight at the camera
your eyes must be open and visible (no sunglasses, tinted glasses or hair across your eyes)
your full head without any covering (unless worn for religious beliefs or medical reasons)
no other people visible in the photo
be a colour portrait (not black and white) approximately 150 pixels wide by 180 pixels high
After enrollng online you can collect your card. You will need your card to swipe in at lectures, access restricted areas, use the library and may be required to enter student union events.
To enrol on your course Login to My account click on the Intranet app and Start Enrolment link to complete each step.
International and Non-UK/Irish right to study
Non-UK/Irish and settled status students need to register right to study documents in person, normally your passport and immigration documents/eVisa, before completing the online enrolment steps below.
If you are on a placement abroad, pursuing a course wholly taught abroad or enrolling on a distance learning course, please email a copy of the passport page with your photo making sure you include your student number to studentcompliance@swansea.ac.uk and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
When Student Compliance services verify your non-UK or non-Irish documents the right to study tab will be "ticked" to indicate this step has been completed.
UK and Irish right to study
If you have not registered right to study documents before then the first step of online enrolment is to upload your UK or Irish passport or three alternative UK identity documents (birth certificate, NI letter, Photo ID).
When the Student Records Office verify your UK or Irish documents the right to study tab will be "ticked" to indicate this step has been completed.
Student declaration
Consent to share data for services and agree to:
Personal data
Verify and update personal data, your home address and equality and diversity details. Provide your UK term time address and postcode, otherwise provide your study abroad term address.
Modules
Check and select online the modules you will be studying (where applicable).
Tuition fees
If you have a have a tuition fee student loan, university bursary, scholarship or other sponsorship to pay 100% of your tuition fee on your behalf then you will not need to make a payment to enrol.
If you have other sponsorship, for example a health trust, employer or embassy is paying towards your fees you can send a Confirmation of Sponsorship form or sponsor letter by email to studentfinance@swansea.ac.uk and we will email you when the details are recorded and you can complete this step.
Self-funding students in the fee payment step of online enrolment can pay by card securely or set up a direct debit to pay UK home fees or to make international payments you can use convera.
Access and maintenance payments
To access online digital content and attend teaching you will need to have completed your right to study registration, signed the student declaration and selected modules.
When you are enrolled your UK Student Finance maintenance loan will be paid on the first day of your course. If you enrol after your course start date you will be paid 3-5 working days after you enrol.
University scholarships/stipend maintenance payments will start after you complete enrolment and the course start date.

Students have the opportunity to identify a trusted contact when they enrol at the University and should consider carefully who this should be.
A trusted contact is someone the University can contact if there are serious concerns about a student’s health or wellbeing.

The University respects student privacy and confidentiality and a trusted contact is not automatically notified of concerns. Contact happens in collaboration with the student and wherever possible, the University will seek student consent before sharing any personal information with the trusted contact.
It is important to register in person** your international (non UK/Irish) passport and right to study immigration documents or eVisa share code as soon as possible after your arrival with our Student Compliance Services:

When your documents have been registered you can then complete the other steps of enrolment online.
Immigration documents
You will be required to bring your passport and supporting documentation to evidence your immigration status in the UK. These documents will vary depending on your personal situation, but some of the most common documents are listed below:
Biometric Residence Permit (BRP)
If you need to collect a BRP when you arrive in the UK, you will have received a letter detailing where to collect it when you received your visa decision. Please see the section on Biometric Residence Permit card collection below for further details. If you already have your BRP, please bring this to your Right to Study registration together with your passport.
Electronic immigration status
Some students (for example EU/EEA nationals) will not receive a BRP but will instead receive a digital immigration status (eVisa). If you have been issued an eVisa, you will find confirmation of this on your visa decision letter. You will be able to generate a ‘share code’ that the University will be able to use to verify your immigration status online. To make your Right to Study registration as easy as possible, we would request that you generate your share code ahead of coming to see us for your Right to Study registration.
You can generate your share code on the UK Government website View and prove your immigration status - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk). When prompted to give your reason for generating the share code, please select ‘other’ (NOT work or rent). Please bring your passport and share code to your Right to Study registration.
Study as a Visitor
If we issued you with a letter to apply for a Visitor visa, or advised that you apply for a Visitor visa, please bring your passport containing your Visitor visa stamp. If you entered via eGates and did not receive a stamp in your passport, please see the information below.
Entering the UK via eGates
Some students are not required to see an immigration officer and receive a stamp in their passport and are instead permitted to enter the UK via eGates. If you enter the UK via eGates, we will still need to evidence when you arrive in the UK, so please bring your passport and proof of your entry (boarding pass / copy of your flight details) with you to Right to Study registration. Your proof of entry can be emails or scans if you do not have hard copies.
Student Route – Original Documents
If you have applied for a Student Route visa using a CAS issued by us, then we will also need to verify your original certificates that you used to apply for your visa, as listed on your CAS. Please bring your certificates with you to your right to study registration
Biometric Residence Permit card collection (BRP)
If you have applied for a new Student Route visa you will find information about where to collect your BRP on your visa decision letter. This will either be from Swansea University or from a local Post Office (if you did not request for it to be delivered to us). You will need to bring your BRP Collection letter and your passport to collect your BRP.
We strongly advise that you request your BRP is delivered to Swansea University and collect it when you attend your in-person right to study registration. Having your BRP sent to the University also enables us to help you should the card be delayed or missing.
Request delivery to Swansea University by entering our Alternative Collection Location (ACL) code on your visa application. The correct ACL code for your course will be on your CAS.
If you do not enter this code, you will have to collect your BRP card from somewhere else and it can be difficult to get there by public transport.

Upload your UK or Irish passport
Please ensure that your passport is in date (has not expired) and that you have a clear scanned image of the page containing your photo and personal information (passport number, name, place of birth, etc.) only. Do not include the page opposite the photo page as this reduces the image quality.

We will verify your documents and the Right to Study step will change to "ticked" when your documents are accepted. Otherwise you will need to re-upload a rejected document.

Login to your MyUni account, click on the Intranet app and Start Enrolment button.The first tab is “Right to Study” where you upload your passport.
Complete each field:
Upload an image of the page containing your photo and personal information
Passport Number - This can be found on the top right of your passport and is 9 characters in length.
Name - The name needs to match the name that is on your passport. Please ensure you enter all names displayed.
Issue Date and Expiry Date - Please select the dates from the date picker, ensure these dates are correct as this could prevent you from collecting your ID card.
Passport Nationality - The nationality cannot be changed as this is retrieved from your personal details and should match with your passport. Please select “Yes” from the drop down if your nationality is correct. If not please select “No” and follow the instructions.
Place of Issue - Enter the place of issue as displayed on your passport
Country of Birth - Select from the drop down the country of birth displayed on your passport.
Place of Birth - Enter the place of birth as displayed on your passport.
Staff will verify the uploaded image is of good quality. If the image is rejected you will need to re-upload an image to complete the right to study step.
Remember to bring your passport when collecting your University ID card. The passport image you upload must match the passport you present in person.
The last step of enrolment is paying your fee or having a student finance loan, bursary, scholarship or grant in place to pay on your behalf.
Funded students
If you have a 100% student loan or University bursary, scholarship or grant to pay your tuition fee on your behalf then you will not need to make a payment when you enrol online.
If you have other sponsorship, for example an embassy or employer or trust is paying towards your fees send a Confirmation of Sponsorship form or sponsor letter by email to studentfinance@swansea.ac.uk and the Student Records Office will email you when the details are recorded and you can complete online enrolment.
Self-funding students
In the fee payment step of online enrolment you can pay by card or for UK home fees set up a direct debit or use Convera to make an international payment, for details browse:

Withdrawal for non-payment
It is very important to have sufficient funding to pay for your studies on time and avoid the risk of being withdrawn from the university.

To collect your card you must be enrolled and bring the passport (or UK alternative photo ID) you registered as proof of identity.
Collect your card from the campus where your course is based:
Undergraduate and taught postgraduate induction
Meet staff and make friends at your School Induction and other welcome events.
Attend an induction talk about your studies, tutors, module timetable, health and safety, IT facilities.
Check your teaching timetable and attend class at the start of term
By the start of term you should have chosen your modules, normally 120 credits for full time study or 60 credits if you are part time. If you need to change your module selection, ask your school student support team for advice before signing up for a module.
Research student induction
Attend an induction talk about the research management system (RMS e:Vision app), engagement and attendance, health and safety, IT facilities and your work plan.
Throughout your candidature the RMS system will send out monthly email alerts about signing off your engagement and every 3 months you will need to enter details on RMS for your supervisor and progression meetings. Ask your supervisor to sign off the first of your monthly Research Management System (RMS) engagement and attendance events.
Remember to record your confirmation of candidature in the Research Management System (RMS) and sign off with your supervisor in the third month of study.

It is essential to enrol and start engaging in your studies.
For taught programmes, check My Timetable for details of when to attend lectures, swipe in at lecture theatres with your ID card and use Canvas and other online apps.
For research courses, regularly contact your supervisors so that every month they can "sign off" in the e:Vision Research Management app that you have engaged in research or preparations for your viva or on course to complete corrections.
If your arrival is delayed or you cannot engage in studies please contact your school Student Support Team.
Student loan, University bursary, scholarship or grant funding
After completing all the enrolment steps, the Student Records Office send confirmation to our Finance department and the Student Loans Company (Student Finance Wales, England, Northern Ireland & Student Awards Agency for Scotland) which triggers the first maintenance payment into your bank account and tuition fee payment to the University (where appropriate).
When you are fully enrolled, your UK Student Finance maintenance loan will be paid on the first day of your course. If you enrol after your course start date, your loan will be paid 3-5 working days after you enrol.
IMPORTANT University payments may not be in your account by the 1st day of the month. If you rely on this payment to pay bills or make other regular payments, to avoid going overdrawn we suggest you set up instalments to start after the 7th day of the month.
Council Tax
The University sends details of full time enrolled students living in a Swansea term address to Swansea Council for them to assess if you are eligible to receive Council Tax exemption.
Official letter
If you need a letter confirming you are a student, for example to open a bank account, please contact MyUniHub to make a request and we will email details of how to get your letter.
