MY KNOWLEDGE LEVEL IN SOFTWARE

2018-2019

GDV

Co-Editor-In-Chief

We are the people of this generation. Waking up. Life took itself full circle for me, and I realized words I live by. I was given the title of Co-Editor-In-Chief and begin my most progressive and intense year of storytelling. Whether it be interviewing 13 sources for one story or pushing the threshold of student journalism, I was keen to take the challenge.

2017-2018

SNAP UP

Design Editor
I began to understand the true impact of journalism and the importance of digging deeper. We published an issue titled Doomsday, which was a feature based issue detailing the impacts of the 2016 inauguration of President Donald Trump.

Tick. Tick. Boom.

As a journalist, I feel it is our job to test the patience and motives of our generation. Inspiring change through action and deviation from a commonly prescribed norm. I tested the boundaries of this belief myself, growing from a shy, non-involved kid to a passionate, determined advocate. Advocacy is another vital intricacy of journalism. We are all advocates within our label as journalists, or storytellers. We are powerful beholders of inspiring continuance of life, giving a purpose to the story of all living things.

This is not to say I don't enjoy the little things too. I love playing piano, and I'm a competitive spirit when it comes to soccer. Most notably, I was also graced with the gift of art, and I attribute that gift to introducing me to the world of journalism.

PROFESSIONAL

2016-2017

Graphic Artist and Staff Writer
I call this the year of reckoning. I realized my love for storytelling, and was welcomed full time onto staff as more than just an artist. I began writing on politics, poking and prodding people I knew to find voices of passionate students on both sides of the aisle.

2015-2016

Illustrator

In 2015 I was approached by my freshman 9D English teacher, my now newspaper adviser, about a drawing I had done for an assignment. One thing led to another an I began drawing editorial cartoons for any staff member looking to spice up their story.
