During this conference, Ministers, policymakers and experts will discuss the strategic priorities for the next European Commission's health agenda (2024 - 2029). Key themes of the conference are: shortage of health workers, security of medicines supply, crisis preparedness, prevention of non-communicable diseases, and investing in health.
Under the slogan ‘A Europe that cares, prepares and protects’, the Belgian presidency of the Council of the EU aims to facilitate the reflection process on the future EU health agenda, in order to further develop and strengthen our EU Health Union.
In this high-level conference, we will welcome Ministers of Health, policymakers and experts to discuss potential new priorities for the next Commission. The conference will put the spotlight on the three big themes of the Belgian presidency on health: “care”, “preparedness” and “protection”.
On the first day, a plenary session with keynote speeches will introduce the main topics of the conference; the shortage of health workers, crisis preparedness, and the security of medicine supply. Thereafter, participants are invited to take part in parallel workshop sessions for more in-depth discussions with key experts. On the second day, the conference will conclude with a ministerial debate on the future health agenda for Europe.
Additionally, on both days, the conference venue will offer an exhibition space with the aim to showcase health projects from Belgium highlighting innovative initiatives and best practices.
