LIFE Coast Adapt Final Conference
LIFE Coast Adapt Final Conference took place in Skåne, Sweden on November 8-9 2023. A bus took participants to sites all around Skåne, where nature-based methods were tested. LIFE
The LIFE programme is the EU's funding instrument for the environment and climate action created in 1992. The current funding period 2014-2020 has a budget of €3.4 billion.
LIFE Coast Adapt
The negative effects of coastal erosion need to be mitigated. At the same time, we need to preserve and stimulate biodiversity. LIFE Coast Adapt tested several new, nature-based methods in the same place. A combination of ecosystem-based erosion
and flood protection measures, at the same time strengthening the coastal biodiversity
ecosystem. The project had an integrated, multifunctional approach
through measures applied on land, in the sea and in their transition zone.
Besides the LIFE Programme, LIFE Coast Adapt was supported by the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management. The project coordinating beneficiary is Region Skåne and the associate beneficiaries are Lund University, the Skåne Association of Local Authorities, the County Administrative Board of Skåne, and the municipalities of Helsingborg, Lomma and Ystad. It started in June 2018 and will last until 2023, being prolonged by one year. The budget is €4,5 million. For more information, see the links in the menu above.
