Welcome to FiMVO's newsletter!
Midsummer is almost upon us! For Finns, this means turning our gaze towards rest and relaxation. And usually dreading cold weather but we have our fingers crossed for a sunny summer!
Before the holidays we wish to inform you about:
- the e-mail addresses where you can reach us during summer
- the current members of the FiMVO Board
- the upcoming info meeting in October
- FAQ & Reminder of the update of new GTINs in the Vnr web service
In our first half of the year, we have focused on improving our internal processes and developing our communication. Hopefully, these efforts have been useful to you as well.
As always, we’d love to get feedback from you at info@fimvo.fi.
The FiMVO team will take its holidays between June and August. However, we are ready to help you out as normal at nmvs@fimvo.fi (alerts and system related questions) and at info@fimvo.fi (contracts and invoicing). |

FiMVO events - possibility to ask and discuss current issues
On 19th of May FiMVO organized a webinar together with the Association of Finnish Pharmacies. The webinar was organized for pharmacy users and the topic was the Finnish verification system and alert management. FiMVO presented an overview of the current situation of FiMVS and the pharmacy IT suppliers, Pharmadata and Receptum, presented how FiMVS work together with their systems. We had a good discussion and many questions!
On 20th of May we organized an info event for all MAHs. FiMVO updated MAHs on the status of medicines verification in Finland, talked about alert and change management and gave some tips on best practices regarding e.g. contracts. The event turnout was over 100 participants and we received great feedback. Thank you all!
Save the date! FiMVO will organize the next info meeting for MAHs on Tuesday 5th of October. Invitations will be sent in September and attendees can send their questions to FiMVO beforehand.

FAQ & Reminder: Please update new GTINs in the Vnr web service and help pharmacies dispense products without delay
From now on we will share with you frequently asked questions (FAQ) in our newsletter. If you have any questions you'd like answered, please let us know at info@fimvo.fi.
FAQ: Unknown product codes - what to do?
Cause: Typically, the issue is that the pharmacy IT system does not recognize the GTIN encoded in the 2D data matrix on the pack. These exceptions are not raised by the Finnish NMVS and the root cause is usually the failure of the MAH or local representative to update the new GTIN in the Vnr web service.
If the pharmacy IT system does not recognize the GTIN of the product, it is not possible for the pharmacy to dispense the product without first manually adding the new GTIN for the product in the pharmacy IT system.
What MAHs should do: All MAHs and their local representatives are therefore kindly asked to ensure that not only product master data and batch data have been uploaded in FiMVS, but also that correct and up-to-date product information is maintained in Vnr web service.
Thank you very much for your attention and co-operation. |
Team FiMVO wishes all our newsletter readers a very relaxing summer time! |
