We're very pleased to release this film by Georgi Scurfield capturing some of our #InspiredBySkateSpots project with educational charity Ignite! Futures, funded by UK Research & Innovation (UKRI), which has been produced as part of the 2021 Nottingham Festival of Science and Curiosity. This project engaged more than 100 children, young people and adults over Instagram from October 2020, in covid-safe face-to-face workshops before Christmas, and in online teaching sessions with Nottingham College early in 2021 - in order to involve users directly in the design of 3 new spaces for skateboarding in and around Nottingham. The project also attempted to explore the learning, career and social benefits of skateboarding, including how it can create community through DIY projects and inspire people to pursue careers in built environment trades and professions, as well as the creative industries - and mixes of all of these things. Thanks so much to all the skaters and other children, young people and adults who take part in this. The first space designed through this project, Ruddington skatepark in Rushcliffe Country Park, will open in April 2021.
