Are you passionate about Abergavenny and interested in welcoming visitors to the 2019 Abergavenny Food Festival?

We are recruiting volunteer Town Ambassadors for the 2019 Abergavenny Food Festival 21-22 September to provide visitors to the festival with a warm welcome and to signpost them to the wide range of things to see and do during their visit.

What does the role involve?
• To provide a warm welcome to visitors to the Abergavenny Food Festival at key locations around Abergavenny
• To provide visitor information and promote the wide range of activities / events taking place across the festival site
• To encourage visitors to explore as much of the town and county as possible during their visit

We would like Volunteers to commit to at least one day (9.00am-5.00pm) over the festival weekend. In return, volunteers will benefit from:

• A familiarisation trip around key attractions in the area on Monday 2nd September 2019
• A full day’s training on ‘customer care’, ‘welcome’ and the ‘Abergavenny Food Festival’ on Thursday 5th September 2019
• A Friday night event party ticket plus 2 x weekend tickets to the Abergavenny Food Festival
• Opportunities to undertake additional training and development
• Full insurance cover
• Reimbursement of local bus travel expenses
• Sandwich lunch and free car parking space on day of volunteering
• Opportunity to participate in volunteer recognition schemes
• A chance to share skills and develop new ones

Timescale of opportunity:
For the duration of the 2019 Abergavenny Food Festival - 21st September & 22nd September. Volunteers will be required to commit to at least one day (9.00am-5.00pm) over the festival weekend.

Location::
At key locations around the Abergavenny Food Festival site

Supervision and support will be provided by Abergavenny Food Festival’s Staffing and Logistics manager. Full Training will be provided by Visit Monmouthshire.

Some desirable but not essential skills would be :
• A knowledge of Abergavenny town centre
• A passion for the area and about welcoming and recommending Abergavenny and Monmouthshire to others
• Interested in what is distinctive about the county, the reasons people choose to visit, and the wide range of things to do and see in the area
• Previous completion of World Host training
• Welsh language skills
