The WEL Research Institute supports strategic basic research through programmes emanating from the universities of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation. Their selection and financial management are carried out via the FRFS, a specialised fund of the FNRS.
The WEL Research Institute provides individualised support for researchers, in partnership with KTO representatives, to integrate the valorisation process into the scientific development of the research programme.
The Bridge Fund supports the maturation of the intellectual property emanating from the WEL Research Institute's programmes, with the goal to reach the next stage of technology transfer.
The WEL Research Institute has gradually built valorization opportunities that are taking many forms including projects supported by the competitivity clusters, licensing agreements, industry partnerships, and spin-off creation.
