Linda Adhiambo Oucho

Linda is currently the Director of Research and Data Hub at the African Migration and Development Policy Centre (AMADPOC) based in Nairobi Kenya. The organisation undertakes policy based research in East Africa and beyond on migration and development as well as other related subjects. The organisation also creates opportunities where policy makers and identified stakeholders (e.g. NGOs, Civil Society Organisations and community leaders) can engage with one another in a space where a mutual consensus can be reached regarding development. She has also been involved in several short term consultancies with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), European University Institute in Florence, Italy, the International Centre for Policy Migration and Development (ICMPD) and the African, Caribbean and Pacific Observatory on Migration both in Brussels, Belgium. She has engaged in several national and international conferences, seminars and forums including the Global Forum for Migration and Development (GFMD) in 2012 and 2014 as a civil society delegate. She has contributed to discussions on human trafficking, gender and migration, media and perception on immigration, and human rights. She is the Project Director for the Migrating Out of Poverty Research Programme Consortium (MOP/RPC) in Kenya and Ethiopia. The MOP/RPC is a 6 year research project (2011 – 2017) that aims to investigate the connection between migration and poverty in 6 countries in Asia (Bangladesh and Singapore), Africa (South Africa, Ghana and Kenya) managed by the University of Sussex and funded by the Department for International Development (DfID). Linda has a strong research background, has the ability to engage on a range of topics finding ways of connecting them theoretically or practically and she is very determined as her focused mind-set gives her the ability to think widely on different ways and means of understanding a phenomenon and how it can be incorporated in policy and practice.
