Beach Guardian

#IAmABeachGuardian

Engage, Educate and Empower Against Plastic Pollution

Beach Guardian CIC is a Community Interest Company based in Cornwall, United Kingdom. It was co-founded by father and daughter duo: Rob and Marine Biologist Emily. Over the years regular beach cleaning has been done to collect and remove rubbish from the beaches; mainly plastics washing in from the ocean on the tide. We now organise community beach cleans and conduct educational workshops with schools and other groups to connect people with the environment to improve health and well being of both people and planet.

Our Aims

Our Future My Voice

#MondayMotivation                #OurFutureMyVoice

We have launched our new weekly feature called #OurFutureMyVoice. We are often contacted by parents and teachers with messages on behalf of children who want to share some facts, news about some changes they have made, show us something they have found, tell us about what they have discovered, ideas they have had or to ask us questions. Thus our new future was born! If anyone else wants to join in please send an email to emily@beachguardian.co.uk

BEACH GUARDIAN EVENTS

Come and join us at a beach clean or workshop!

We run a variety of organised beach cleans across the ‘Seven Bays’ in North Cornwall. Centred around the village of St Merryn, the Seven Bays, Trevone, Harlyn, Mother Ivey’s, Booby’s, Constantine, Treyarnon and Porthcothan are the beaches and bays we try and guard against plastic pollution.

All equipment will be provided and Beach Guardian will remove everything collected on our beach cleans. Our events are family friendly, the more helping hands the better! Check out all our events on our Facebook page…and give us a ‘like’!

S.E.A.L. (School Education Activities Link)

Allow pupils to develop care and concern for their natural environment.

We host S.E.A.L. (School Education Activities Link) educational events to discuss the impact on our local beaches and seas from plastics in the oceans. Plastic waste in the ocean is set to treble within the next 10 years. Empower your local school with the knowledge of the effects that Single Use Plastics have on our environment with our fun and educational SEAL workshops.

The Beach Guardian assembly and workshop session is FREE of charge to Cornwall schools. Dates are throughout school term times but subject to availability.

Until restrictions are lifted, we are providing virtual content on our YouTube channel and are working on educational packs to send into schools. Our YouTube channel for “Lessons In Lockdown” is here:

“The simple fact of the matter is, if changes aren’t made urgently, it will be too late.”

Absolutely brilliant morning with Beach Guardian today and the children learnt so much. The presentation and activities were pitched perfectly and the children were all engaged throughout the entire morning. I’ll be highly recommending you to other schools!
