GPs call for home visits to be removed from contract

GP leaders in England have called for an end to their contractual responsibility to carry out home visits, following a tense vote at their annual conference in London.

After a passionate and polarised debate, England’s local medical committee (LMC) representatives passed a motion which said that GPs “no longer have the capacity to offer home visits” and called on the BMA’s General Practitioners Committee (GPC) for England to negotiate changes to their contract to reflect this.
