Why is our work important?
More young people need mental health support than ever before. The demand for child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) has risen by over 60% since 2013 far exceeding what CAMHS can deliver.
At the CAMHS Digital Lab, we build tools to meet this challenge. Our solutions streamline clinical processes, provide population insights, and offer novel ways of understanding young people's needs. We enable CAMHS services to be more efficient and accurate while reducing costs.
Our process
At the CAMHS Digital Lab, we place a strong emphasis on human-centred principles to create digital solutions that cater to the unique needs of our stakeholders. By co-designing with young people, parents, clinicians and teachers we are able to develop digital services that not only assist patients, but also fits easily into their lives.
Our solutions are user-friendly, intuitive, and evidence-based. We are committed to inclusive design principles and adapting to the evolving needs of our patients.

The CAMHS Digital Lab is a cross-disciplinary team of clinicians, designers, systems engineers, informaticians, and academic researchers who put young people and their families at the centre of our work.
Our success is directly tied to our ability to bring together diverse perspectives, knowledge, and expertise from across CAMHS and the wider community.
Our Partners
The CAMHS Digital Lab is a collaborative initiative between South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre, Helen Hamlyn Centre of Design at Royal College of Art (HHCD), and King’s College London Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
We receive funding from the NHS, external grants and key partners. It is a core objective of the lab to move to a self-sustaining model by 2030.
