Absolutely first class in every respect; diagnosing the issues; explaining the clinical options; explaining the impact of those, both positives and negatives, and most importantly, utilising his considerable medical expertise to achieve the outcomes for the route chosen by me.

I spent years nursing a knee injury that later turned into arthritis until finally I had to face up to reality: Total knee replacement. I did my research and chose to see Mr Sunil Kumar at the Nuffield in Brentwood. One of the best decisions I have ever made. We met on a Saturday morning and I found Mr Kumar to be a charming and very sympathetic man. We discussed my problem in detail and then he sent me for X rays. I was back to see him again after only 30 minutes and the verdict was bone on bone and hence a new knee. The surgery lasted about an hour and I had an epidural rather than a general anaesthetic so my post-op recovery would be quicker. I was afraid I might be conscious during the operation but, after being given a sedative, I knew nothing until I woke up in the recovery suite. I’d read many dire warnings of extreme pain for the first six weeks after a knee replacement. I had none at all and that is a real tribute to the skill of Mr Kumar. Twelve weeks later, my recovery is continuing very well. I’ve got good movement, knee pain is a thing of the past and I know I’ll be back on the golf course in the spring. I am forever grateful to Mr Kumar.

Had an appointment with Mr Kumar within 2/3 days of making contact with his secretary. So so quick. Brilliant. Everything explained clearly with a model of the knee being used to explain exactly what was involved in the operation. I had many questions to which Mr Kumar gave me all the answers I was looking for and more. After the operation Mr Kumar came to see me in the recovery area and assured me all went well and he was very pleased with the outcome. He also came to see me later in the day once I was back in my room and once again spoke to me about how things went and then once the physio team were happy with my mobility and able to go up and down stairs, I live in a house, I could go home.
