Mail Deliveries to EUI addresses

Over the years the quantity of private parcels shipped to EUI members has increased exponentially due to the growing use of online shopping.  Despite the frequent request to EUI members to keep these deliveries to a minimum, all porters lodges see a continuous increase in the number of private packages delivered from e-commerce shippers.  Consequently, as of 1 January 2024, the EUI must further restrict its delivery acceptance policy.

Policy Statement

EUI members should use EUI addresses only for the delivery of work-related items, such as books, IT devices and the like. These work-related shipments should meet the following conditions:

  • Have your full name and cell phone number included on the shipping label for immediate contact by the EUI post office
  • Use the specific postal address of your building and not the generic address of the Institute
  • Send a copy of the order to the Central Mail and Registry office at [email protected] (even if you expect to receive the parcel ina premise different than the Badia Fiesolana)
  • Inform the Central Mail and Registry office prior to delivery if you are expecting a package greater than 45x35x30 cm, so that the package can be accepted and arrangements for receipt may be made
  • Collect the package as soon as possible after notification and in any case not later than the day following the notification of receipt sent by the Mail & Registry office to the user.
  • Use your home address or take advantage of paperless communication for private correspondence easily delivered by normal mail, such as bank statements, utility bills, freepost, and the like. In case no other suitable alternatives are available for receiving parcels, we suggest to refer to delivery points indicated on the main express couriers websites (e.g. https://www.fermopoint.it/, https://locator.dhl.com/?gad_source=1).

Please note that all parcels delivered without prior notification to the Mail and Registry office proving their work-related content, as well as  parcels requiring payment of postage or customs charges on delivery will not be accepted.  

In addition to the above, we confirm that all parcels sent by higher education institutions, Universities and/or international organizations addressed to professors and/or other academics will be accepted without needing any specific notification. 

The EUI accepts no liability for the loss or non-delivery of parcels that do not comply with the above requirements, nor for any damage incurred during shipment or during the storage of uncollected parcels.
