About this event

Are you interested in collaborating with an external organisation on a research project to be undertaken by a fully-funded PhD student? The Wales DTP is running an information session on the benefits of collaborative studentships and how to put forward a proposal for a collaborative award, on 6th September 2023, 10:30am-11:30am.

A proposal for a collaborative award can be built upon an existing relationship with a non-academic organisation or upon a newly-emerging relationship. A range of organisations in the public, private and third sector work with the Wales DTP, offering in-kind or financial support (and sometimes both) to research training, in an arrangement that is designed to be mutually beneficial. Our partnerships between non-HEIs and HEI consortium institutions contribute to meeting our objective to develop robust mechanisms for knowledge exchange and knowledge transfer, and provide non-academic organisations with a genuine stake in a social science research project and a role in producing the next generation of leading social scientists.

During this one-hour information session you will hear from a range of partner organisations and doctoral researchers on how a collaborative award is enabling them to achieve their goals. You will also hear from the Wales DTP Deputy Director, Dr Caroline Jones, about the mechanism for putting forward a collaborative award proposal, and how proposals are considered.
