About this event

The importance of sustainable and resilient food supply systems is widely acknowledged. Providing food and nutrient security to a growing global population and ensuring the livelihoods of millions of people working along the food supply chain, whilst safeguarding the environment for future generations has never been more important. The Covid-19 pandemic has further emphasised the imperative for robust food systems, capable of responding to shocks and disruptions.

Food systems are complex, with inter-relationships between agriculture, the environment, and human consumers; with each component influencing the sustainability of the others. Therefore, the approach to food systems and food systems challenges needs to be holistic and interdisciplinary, drawing upon natural, social and physical sciences. The IFNH is based on the recognition of the value of interdisciplinary approaches to systems-wide challenges and our 3rd Annual Forum provides an opportunity to learn about the application of such approaches in practice in different parts of the world.
