About this event

In the coming months, we are likely to witness one of the biggest setbacks to living standards in the UK since the 1950s. To explore what’s going on beneath the poverty line, analysts and commentators have become increasingly concerned about the changing nature and severity of poverty. But there is little consensus about what we should be measuring or doing about it. This presentation outlines the primary measures of deep poverty currently in circulation to consider what they can and cannot tell us when it comes to poverty severity, risk & appropriate policy responses.

In this presentation, Dr Daniel Edmiston of the University of Leeds, outlines the main definitions and measures of deep poverty currently in circulation to reflect on what they can and cannot tell us when it comes to poverty severity, risk, and appropriate policy responses.
