About this event

How many people dying on the roads in Essex every year do you think is acceptable? …….. 4? 20? 42?

In November 2020, The Safer Essex Roads Partnership (SERP) launched ‘Vision Zero’, the ambition to have ZERO road deaths and serious injuries on roads in the Essex, Southend and Thurrock council areas by 2040

……………. because we believe that ZERO is the only acceptable number.

ABOUT THIS EVENT

We have developed a draft strategy which sets out how we work together with all road users and the wider community to achieve this vision. We want YOU to get involved and help us to progress to the next stage by telling us what you think at one of our Vision Zero workshops. The workshops will be held on-line throughout October with approximately 30 delegates at each. They will last two-hours and be hosted by the Deputy Police Fire & Crime Commissioner, Jane Gardner.

WHY ATTEND

In 2020, 47 people died and 675 were seriously injured on Essex roads in preventable road collisions. We are all human and make mistakes, but no one deserves to die in a collision as a result of that mistake. Whether you’re a cyclist, a pedestrian, a car driver, a person who drives for work, an elected partner representative or a mixture of all the above, you can join us and contribute to ending the trauma that is caused by collisions.

We will be sharing our new approach to road safety at the workshops and this is your opportunity to have your say on the future of our roads and how we use them. It’s a subject which also touches on many other social issues such as climate change, mobility, health and sustainability.

This is an exciting time for Essex, and we need you to help us lead the way to, literally, save lives.
