The Department of Rural and Community Development was established on 19 July 2017.
Our mission is "to promote rural and community development and to support vibrant, inclusive and sustainable communities throughout Ireland.”
The Rural Development and Regional Affairs Division
The Rural Development and Regional Affairs Division promotes and facilitates long-term sustainable economic and social progress in rural parts of Ireland through a coordinated approach across government.
The Community Devlopment Division
The Community Development Division promotes and supports the development of vibrant, sustainable and inclusive communities in both urban and rural areas, through implementing a coherent policy framework and strategy which supports the community and voluntary sector.
