Wellcome Trust Institutional Strategic Support Fund for TREE has now come to an end and we would like to thank the Wellcome Trust for their support over the last 10 years. The commitment from the Wellcome Trust and the University of Exeter provided foundations for the development of mechanisms of both discovery based research and translational research with wide reaching impacts at the interface between quantitative sciences and biological, biomedical & clinical sciences.
The Translational Research Exchange @ Exeter (TREE) is an innovative programme designed to build research links between biomedical and clinical research.
The University of Exeter has received a £1.5million grant from Wellcome Trust’s Institutional Strategic Support Fund (ISSF) for the project, the third time it has successfully applied for funds through the leading scheme.
The funding covers five years (from 2016 to 2021), and its overall aim is to bridge the gaps between clinicians and biomedical research – its emphasis is on delivering 'impact' from both biomedical and clinical research. Find out more - link to an about us page.

Funding of up to £4450 to provide promising undergraduates with hands-on experience of research during the summer holidays, with the aim of encouraging them to consider a career in research.
TREE is delighted to launch a new pump priming initiative to support interdisciplinary research within Wellcome Trust ISSF funding remit, at the interface between quantitative sciences and biological, biomedical and clinical sciences.
Funding of up to £10,000 to accelerate the translation of promising medicines discovery research underway at the University of Exeter. Any UoE researchers and/or UoE associated spin-out companies with projects related to drug discovery are encouraged to apply.
Funding of up to £1,000 to enables University of Exeter researchers and professional services staff working in health research to undertake high quality public engagement.
There are two types of clinical secondment opportunities targeting at health professionals group and quantitative scientists group respectively. Salary and reasonable additional costs, to cover training and project costs, will be paid.
