E & M Bring Tech to Westchase Elem

Westchase Elementary is in the heart of the Westchase community in Tampa, Florida. Many of our students have access to technology at home, however, they aren’t necessarily being taught how to utilize that technology to enhance their education. We are working here to enrich our technological abilities and physical inventory to meet the needs of our students. Herein lies our need for funding to boost our abilities to fully prepare our children for the 21st century and stay on the cutting edge of digital age learning.
   In order to acquire Professional Development to learn new and different ways to reach our students and their technological needs, we are looking to travel to one of the most amazing educational technology conferences in the world, ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education). ISTE’s focus is helping educators around the world use technology to solve tough problems in education. They are passionate about changing the way learning and teaching takes place to make it more meaningful and impactful for educators and learners around the globe.
   This year, it is in Chicago, Illinois. We have our registration and flights, but we need your help to have a place to stay! In order to maximize our time at the conference, we need to be in close proximity to the convention center which means staying downtown. The conference has contracted rates for those going to the conference, but it’s still expensive. Staying at one of these hotels will allow us to take advantage of all of the workshops offered to grow our technology community and knowledge here at Westchase! We (my assistant principal and I – a 5th grade math and science teacher) would be so appreciative of this opportunity to learn and grow, and bring back a wealth of knowledge to enhance our school community, most importantly, our students!
