Well, I'm glad you feel for poor Amelia. Yes, things get better. I'm a hopeless romantic and at this stage you're always going to get a happy ever after from me. I guess my theory of writing is to structure the book like the movie Wall-E (Pixar movie about the robot left behind to clean up all the trash on earth). First you have to show Wall-E in his environment before he can go on his adventure.

But yeah, I guess warning: there's sex and swearing. I did write the first chapter intentionally that way to weed out those who wouldn't want to read that stuff.

Thanks for checking it out.(less)

I'm working on Sol right now. I hope it will be out this summer. It's a student-teacher romance, but the guy is the student and the girl is the teacher. And he's military. It's set in Spain, where I used to live. (less)

Chapter 3 Excerpt from The Sun and the Moon

I watched as a group of surfers made their way out of the water.

The black, wetsuited bodies waded in the shallow tide, surfboards under their arms. They walked along the sand below the parking area, heading towards the rocks between the sand and the grassy picnic area.

I realized, as I watched a small group of four of them, that the body of one of them looked familiar.

Very familiar.

I held my breath Read more of this blog post »

"Jennifer Hartmann books make me shake. Shake with fear, with anger and with longing.

They make me throb; with angst, with need and with lust.

Jennifer Hartmann books make me ache, with sadness, with hope, with desire.

Sweet, hot, small town goodness with a growly doctor and a poor office worker. I love these guys so much. Birkie is at her best when she writes hurt-comfort but set in a quirky town. So much fun.

“Drawing back, and then folding into the shore. Pause, crash. Pause, crash. It made you feel like you were a part of something infinite, looking at the endless waves like that.”
Leslie McAdam, The Sun and the Moon

“As I drove, I thought about the past year. It was amazing that I was noticing things like the ocean sparkle and stink, the pelicans, the crash of the waves, and the islands. Depression made you not notice things like that. It closed your world down and you didn’t enjoy anything at all. It was just too hard to do anything. Think. Move. Appreciate. Breathe. Too hard to do any of that.”
Leslie McAdam, The Sun and the Moon

“you have a shell, and I want to get in there and crack it wide open and show you how magnificent you already are, and how magnificent you’ll be.”
