Wow! This story was fantastic! The plot kept me riveted to the pages as I waited to see how everything would tie together and what answers these characters would finally get regarding the fates of their lost loved ones.

Aubrey Madison and Sean McNair were extremely likable and capable characters. Both of them went through some very painful and trying losses in their pasts, from the death of Aubrey’s husband to the disappearance of Sean’s younger brother. Aubrey was also a loving mother, who cared deeply for how things affected her children.

The author did a great job of creating romantic tension in the novel, while still keeping the focus of these characters on solving these cases and also trying to survive. Lone Star Standoff is part of the Lone Star Justice series, but definitely can be read as a stand alone novel without any confusion.

Judge Aubrey Madison is widowed with two children, she is presiding over a case involving a drug cartel. But when she finds her life being threatened, FBI agent Sean McNair steps up to offer protection.

As the threats draw nearer, Aubrey and Sean work together to bring them to a stop. Sean is dedicated to his job and feels called to serve others through his work. He is a strong Christian, and despite his hold ups about family he fits in well with Aubrey's. Her children connect easily with him, and he finds himself surprised by how much he enjoys them.

Fraught with tension, this was an engaging read filled with suspense that I didn't want to put down. I admired both Aubrey and Sean who are both driven individuals who have already accomplished a lot in their lives. A page-turning suspense with strong faith and fantastic characters. Action-packed, with great growth and development of characters.

I used to read this line of books on a regular bases. For a mystery/suspense fan, this was the line of books to read. It had a little bit of everything. Thus, while it has been a long time, it is like coming back home.

Aubrey is great. She was thrown everything from a dead rat to a snake. Yet, she may have had her nerves rattled but she did not cower. She stayed strong. Of course, she had help in the form of sexy, and strong Sean. He was her guardian angel. There were sparks between these two. It was steamy. Aubrey and Sean were great but Aubrey's two twin children Sammy and Camy did steal a little of the spotlight with their cuteness. Cute children make for an enjoyable read.

Back to the overall story. There was plenty happening within the pages of the book to keep it interesting. In addition, to the fact that I really liked all of the characters, made for a fast read.

Lone Star Standoff is book #6 in the Lone Star Justice Series. I hope it won't be the last one. This book finds a Texas Ranger protecting a judge who is presiding of a case of a member of a major drug cartel member charged with murder. Sparks fly between the two as they search for answers to questions in the past and in the future. Can they put the past behind them and survive long enough to figure out if what they have is real?

I really enjoyed this book. It was suspenseful, interesting, some light moments, and it had an epilogue! Epilogues really are one of my favorite things. There was a few twists and turns to keep you guessing until the very end. Definitely worth reading this book and the previous 5 books of the series!

With high tension mafia court case, several intense and personal cold murder cases, and two adorable twins this tale puzzled, entertained, and delighted.
The suspense in the story escalated as the court case moved forward and the mafia cleaners did their best to hold the proceedings at bay. The last quarter of the book was filled with surprising twists and deadly action. I liked how logical and realistic the investigation, and the clues, were to me as they unraveled the past and present cases at the same time. The fear was tangible, the threat concrete, several times the protagonists were in a situation where their lives, and their loved ones, were in serious, potentially deadly danger.
Judge Aubrey Madison and Texas Ranger Sean McNair knew each other from before, from Aubrey's husband's murder investigation sometime before. [This time frame kept fading in my mind - was it right at the twins birth, or was it two years ago? Was it the reason Aubrey wanted to be a judge, went back to work when the kids were just months old or were she already working as one when her husband was murdered? Was it my mind wondering or were there timeline confusion, I never figured that out, but none of those points were not big enough issues for me not to enjoy the story.]
I liked how even though the feelings between Aubrey and Sean were developing rather fast, there was a feeling like they took their time to get to know each other, and were careful with their developing emotions. Those emotions felt genuine and true, from the apprehension to jump into the relationship, to the deep feel taking root.
The inspirational message of trusting God in good times and the bad times, to lean on his understanding, guidance, and protectiveness was well twined into the tale so that it was part of the development of the characters while inspiring the readers.
Love Inspired stories are the few ones out there that can be heartening, entertaining, potent, and intense all at the same time - Lone Star Standoff definitely was all of that

Being a judge over a trial for a drug cartel member is not an easy thing. It's dangerous! Some people think that being a judge is a piece of cake but we find out in this book that it can be a danger to yourself and your family. I gained a new appreciation for judges, even though I already had a lot! Aubrey had already lost her husband to murder 2 years previously but needed to work to support her young twins so went back to work as a judge. This case against a powerful drug cartel member case comes before her and she wants it to be quick and correct but she doesn't know it's going to tie back to her husband's murder AND endanger her & her children! Sean McNair is a Texas Ranger and he's also lost a member of his family to the cartel. He's going to protect Aubrey when her life is threatened and make sure this cartel member's trial takes place. That turns out to be difficult as many things happen to try to derail the trial that keep Sean and Aubrey on their toes. As with all Margaret Daley stories, this one keeps you reading quickly until the last page to see how it all turns out! Fantastic characters and story!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

I really enjoyed this story. The characters and the plot were totally believable. I loved how Aubrey and Sean didn't fall in love right way but you could tell there was a chemistry there. Aubrey is a judge presiding over a hearing of a drug cartel member. She finds a dead rat in the trunk of her car. She immediately calls Sean, who is a Texas Ranger. He took over a position in Company D that was opened up with the death of Aubrey's husband several years earlier. After the initial investigation into the murder Aubrey's husband Samuel, neither Sean and Aubrey have any further contact with each other.

This story follows events that take place during the hearing. The pace of the story is fast with action after action taking place. I loved having a dual POV. Giving insight into a character's thought process really helps me to fully understand that character so much better.

I adored Aubrey's children, Sammy and Camy a great deal. The 4 year old twins really brought a great dimension to the story. I highly recommend this story to anyone especially if you enjoy a suspenseful romance.

Judge Aubrey Madison and Texas Ranger Sean McNair have both lost someone to a powerful drug cartel. Now she is presiding over the trial of a high-ranking cartel member and Sean is trying to keep her alive. The story is an exciting, action-packed drama interspersed with the antics of the judge’s twin four-year-old son and daughter, Sammy and Camy. The judge doesn’t want to get close to another lawman, and the Texas Ranger doesn’t feel worthy to have a relationship because he failed to protect his brother. While trying to stay alive and keep the judge safe, every way Sean turns another attack is being launched with a growing body count. The reader starts to question if the hero and heroine are going to still be standing at the end of the book. Drawing on their faith, they keep doggedly pushing forward, constantly seeking answers when even the questions are murky. This suspenseful story is well-written and will hold your attention. I received a copy of this book from the author. This is my honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.

This is another great story by Margaret Daley, who knows how to write a book that’s both suspenseful and romantic. Sean and Aubrey make a terrific couple. Aubrey is a strong, resourceful woman who has suffered great tragedy. Sean has experienced loss in his family, too, and as they both work together on this case, they are drawn closer together because of their loss. I especially enjoyed the “family” aspect of this story as Aubrey’s five-year-old twins added both some fun to the story, as well as a little extra suspense for their well-being.
There’s a thread of faith that runs through the story as Aubrey learns to trust God to protect her family.

This storyline has quite a few twists and turns in it to hold your interest all throughout the story. I was never quite sure what was going to happen next. Readers of Christian suspense will enjoy this one.

Lone Star Standoff by Margaret Daley is the sixth book in her Lone Star Justice series. Judge Aubrey Madison’s life is in danger. Texas Ranger Sean McNair has vowed to watch over her and keep her and her twins safe. Sean is convinced that he shouldn’t have a family of his own because of his dangerous job. Aubrey’s husband died in the line of duty. If she marries again, she doesn’t want to have to worry about his safety. Can these two find a common ground amidst the danger? I really enjoyed this book. I was afraid that since the heroine was a judge that there would be a lot of legal jargon and things that I wouldn’t understand. But Margaret gave you all the pertinent facts without the boredom. Great job! I liked how both characters interacted and how they were able to rely on God’s strength when they couldn’t find the answers they sought. I would definitely recommend this story if you like a good mystery.

I love reading Love Inspired Suspense novels and when Margaret Daley's name is on the cover it is always a must read for me. Her newest book, which released this month, is Lone Star Standoff and it is another winner.

Lone Star Standoff is filled with an extremely tense drug cartel court case, a widowed judge whose life has been threatened and a Texas Ranger who steps in to protect the widowed judge and her twins. The twists and turns throughout the book propelled me through the pages faster than normal and I savored every page.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a fast-paced, suspenseful romance.

On a 5 Star scale - 5 Stars!!!!!

I would like to thank Margaret Daley for my copy of Lone Star Standoff. I received my copy for free with no expectation for a positive or negative review. The opinions are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR. Part 255.

"Lone Star Standoff" is a romantic suspense novel. The suspense came from repeated attempts to hurt the heroine and derail the trial. The hero protected her while also working to solve who is attacking her and who killed her husband and his brother two years ago. She doesn't want to get involved with a man in dangerous work like police work, but she falls in love with him over the weeks they spend together. He had no intention of getting married, but he falls in love with her. Except, I kinda got the feeling he fell in love with her cute, twin kids and she fell in love with how well he got along with them. Anyway, the hero and heroine got along and worked together well. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this exciting novel.

I enjoyed this book. Aubrey is a judge presiding over a big trial. I enjoyed the interactions between her and Sean, the Texas Ranger she calls when trouble starts. Sean is trying to find out what happened to his brother while also trying to solve the case of who murdered Aubrey's late husband.

There are several cases that are going but the main focus is keeping Aubrey and her family safe. Her twins are probably my favorite characters. You could just see their little personalities coming through the pages. I enjoyed the suspense, the romance was good, I wasn't thrilled with how it ended but it wrapped everything up nicely.

It was a 4/5 for me.

Thank you to the publisher for the review copy of this book via netgalley. I received this book in exchange for an honest review and the opinions stated above are 100% mine.

Lone Star Standoff ( Lone Star Justice )
By: Margaret Daley
Lone Star Standoff is part of Lone Star Justice series. You can read it as a standalone.. Daley Knows how to capture your attention right at the start and keeps you turning the pages. I love the story and the characters, both are well written. Love Inspired suspense romance is full of action, murder, second chances , and romance. Judge Aubrey Madison is over a drug cartel member in a trial and it puts her life in danger. Aubrey is a very brave woman , but things just keep coming at her. Texas Ranger Sean McNair is trying to protect her, but he has his hands full. He also has not found the body of his brother yet. Can Ranger Sean keep her safe?
I was given a complimentary copy of this book , but was not told that I had to give a positive review. All opinions are my own.

While deciding the outcome on taking down a drug cartel, Judge Aubrey and her children seem to be in danger after a series of threats and close calls. Sean McNair Texas Ranger is on the case and protecting Aubrey and her children.

This was a really good book, normally I don't gravitate towards book that have cartel kinda stuff going on but in the end I found myself enjoying this book more then I thought I would. I loved that there was so much going on to keep things interesting. Then there was that blooming attraction between Aubrey and Sean. I loved that the children didn't totally fade into the background where they quickly get mentioned and disappear off the face of the planet. I loved getting to see the characters piece everything together and it was just a fun ride is all I have to say. Overall pretty great book I enjoyed it.

I love this series of books. At least to me all these Texas ranger stories are. This one is a great story from beginning to end. In this one we meet Judge Audrey Madison and Texas ranger Sean McNair. I like how she builds this story. It starts with a problem that escalates from there. I also like how this story ties in small ways to past stories. Once the action starts you get a idea how a cartel works and how ruthless it can be. It also shows how the way Sean and Audrey are tied together when graves are found tying the past with the present. Its a fascinating story to read. It keeps you curious enough to turn the page to see how it ends. I love the ending. Its unique. It shows a peace after the storm. I look forward to her next book.

Lone Star Standoff by Margaret Daley

When a high profile trial turns deadly for Judge Aubrey Madison she turns to Texas Ranger Sean McNair for help. Both have lost love ones to the powerful drug cartel Coastal Cartel and are determined to bring them to justice.

Margaret Daley hit this one out the ballpark. Lone Star Standoff was differently a 5 star book. It was fast paced, non stop action, a touch of romance and a page turner. I enjoyed the well developed characters and realistic story line. The twist and turns of the plot kept me from putting it down. Lone Star Standoff is part of the Lone Star Justice series but can be read alone. Pick up this great book or any Margaret Daley has written you will not be disappointed.

Lone Star Standoff is a fabulous romantic suspense and is from Margaret Daley’s Lone Star Justice series. I enjoyed this book. I had no problem reading this quick paced read from cover to cover in one sitting. It is that good! I love the main characters Sean and Aubrey. I never knew what was going to happen next. I did not find it predictable at all.
Lone Star Standoff is getting a well deserved five plus stars from me. I highly recommend it to readers who enjoy suspense filled stories that are clean.

Margaret`s books are always great, there hasn`t been a book I didn`t enjoy. They always peak your interest from the first page to the last and this one isn`t any different. I just didn`t want to put it down. The twins in the story are so cute and funny, but I am glad I don`t have to clean up after them. They are the best part of the book, they were just precious. It is a book with lots of twists and turns that keep you turning pages and a surprise ending. Aubrey you feel sorry for, but she is a brave lady. Sean you wish he was your sweetheart. I know you will enjoy this book as much as I did.

Love Texas Rangers

This has been one of my favorite authors for years. Aubrey a judge, a mother to twins and the wife of a deceased Texas Ranger, Sean the ranger that replaced her husband are both in the middle of an intense situation. Sean's brother was missing and presumed dead, maybe by the same people that killed Aubrey's husband. Sean is determined to get justice for both families. This book has snakes, rats, attempted murder, murder, drug cartel, bombs, and a lot of who done it. There was a twist at the end which was a surprise. If you haven't read this you should.

This was another good book about the Texas Rangers. This one is about Texas Ranger, Sean McNair, and his assignment to guard Judge Aubrey Madison as she Judges a drug cartel case. Both have lost loved ones to this cartel and both are looking for justice. Aubrey lost her husband Samuel, also a Texas Ranger, as he investigated the cartel, while Sean lost his younger brother to them. Aubrey has twins Sami and Cami to take care of and protect. How can she and Sean do this with so many things happening around them? I was not expecting the twist ending which was, of course, unexpected.

This is the first time reading this author. The main characters are the judge Aubrey Madison and Texas Ranger Sean McNair. When there attempts on the judge's life Sean tries to figure it all out. Aubrey's husband was a cop who disappeared while investigating a cartel contract killer. Then Aubrey is bitten by a rattler and her family is in danger. Then the cartel puts a bomb in the courthouse and from there it gets nuts. Can they figure this out in time.

This book was fine but it focused on the crime so you don’t really get to see the characters interacting.

I wanted to see more scenes where Aubrey and Sean got to know each other. It seemed like the epilogue/last chapter came out of nowhere.

Also, I wanted more scenes with Aubrey’s kids as they were mentioned often but they are always in the background.

I don’t think I’ll want to read this whole series but I might still try other books by this author.

WOW!!!!!!

This was a really good book. I really enjoy reading about Texas Rangers, probably because I'm such a big fan of Walker Texas Ranger. I am so glad that Aubrey was able to put her mastermind her and find love again and she also learned to trust God with her future.

Author Margaret Daley has a talent for writing suspense seasoned with just the right amount of romance. This story is packed with both! Texas Ranger Sean McNair is handsome and strong but feels guilt that he was unable to protect his brother. Judge Aubrey Madison is a recent widow with lively four-year-old twins and finds herself presiding over the trial of a member of a powerful drug cartel. With countless threats on her life and a body count continuing to climb, Texas Ranger McNair knows he needs to step up his investigation and protect Aubrey at all costs. He was unable to save his brother, so he is doggedly determined to protect Judge Madison. Aubrey’s twins put some humor in the story with their antics, but you will still hold your breath hoping for the best. Will Sean learn to live again and not blame himself for his brother’s death? Will Aubrey learn to trust God and let go of worrying? This is Love Inspired Suspense at its best!
