Grow to Give is a community food initiative. Grow to Give provides fresh, locally grown food to food banks and community fridges across Buckinghamshire. Food charities have faced a significant increase in demand for food since the pandemic started.
Local allotments and home growers are encouraged to donate their surplus produce. This supports local people to access fresh fruit and vegetables. It also reduces any food waste.
Our local food charities also asked if we could give more ideas on how to use the fresh food. Encouraging sustainable growing and delicious but simple ways to cook with the fruit and veg continue to be our key focus in 2022.
To support those who receive the fresh fruit and vegetables but are not confident on what to do with them, the Grow to Give Scheme also have a library of recipes to try out available online and cooking videos on their YouTube channel.
