This November, the Senior Men, Novice Men and Cox squads will be Fundraising 50/50 with Movember and our Rowing Club! Movember is the one of the Largest Men’s Health Charities in the UK, and they fund and support over 1250 men’s health projects around the world.

Men die on average 6 years earlier than women, and for largely preventable reasons. Movember supports research and other projects relating to Prostate Cancer(9.9m men are living with and beyond prostate cancer) , Testicular Cancer(the most common cancer in young men) and Mental Health. Unchecked, Prostate cancer rates will double over the next 15 years, Testicular cancer rates have already doubled in the last 50 years. And across the world, one man dies by suicide every minute of every day, with males accounting for 75% of all suicides. The suicide rates in England and Wales are at a two-decade high and so Movember are placing an extra emphasis this year on suicide. The lockdown periods and isolation periods are proving to be even more of an incredible challenge to men’s mental health.

Movember raises money, supports research, and helps finds solutions to these important Men’s Health issues. So, get involved for your grandfathers, fathers, brothers, and mates. Help us to raise money for our Club and this fantastic Charity!
