Most people remember Friday 20th March as the day Boris shut the pubs but in our house we remember it as the night we almost lost Lee. At just 31 Lee suffered a heart attack followed by a cardiac arrest at home and thanks to the help and work of the amazing 999 Operator and Paramedics he survived. Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrests have just a 1 in 10 survival rate. Without the amazing help of that call operator talking me through CPR and the fast response of the paramedic team I have no doubt that Lee wouldn’t be with me today. To say thank you I’m going to walk, run, cycle and towards the end probably crawl 1079 kilometres in March. This is a kilometre for each call made in the past year that lifesaving CPR advice was given, one of which was mine, to try and raise money as a thank you for all their incredible work. Lee will also be joining alongside me for some of these kilometres, taking it one day at a time as he is still physically recovering from his second angioplasty and pericarditis.
