This is a cause very close to my heart. 

The quality of children's childhood experiences is so important. Why? Because it shapes the kind of adult they will become, which in turn, shapes our world. 

Children are innocent, not having asked for the life they get thrown into, they are sometimes born into adverse challenging circumstances, like my own. They are powerless, without control and when they face circumstances like abuse, neglect or even exploitation, this is only going to ever have a detrimental effect. 

Personally, it has taken me many years, many tears and many troublesome times, including nearly going to jail, to work my way through the trauma and emotional damage that I was left with as a result of my childhood - substance abuse, mental health issues, poverty and neglect. And I am still not fully recovered at 33. 

I know, from first hand experience, just how imperative it is that we give children a healthy happy start to life. In fact, it's not just important - it's every child's right, it's what every child deserves. 

And that, is why I am getting into the ring on the 19th November - to fight for something that we should all be fighting for. 

So please, please be in my corner and support me in supporting the children of today - our future.  

The Children's Society are a national charity, working with young people to counsel and support them through their most serious life challenges. They campaign tirelessly for the big social changes that will improve the lives of those who need hope most. They've been doing this for 140 years and they won't stop until they've built a society where hope is alive in every child.
