King's College London has a strong tradition of research in number theory, and this continues today across a range of topics in algebraic and analytic number theory. Staff are at the forefront of research in areas including automorphic forms and the Langlands Programme, values of L-functions, Diophantine geometry, and connections to topics in physics such as quantum chaos.

Staff are involved in numerous international collaborations and regularly hosts international visitors. The number theory group participates in the London number theory seminar, the London number theory study group and the London—Paris number theory seminar, as well as the London School of Geometry and Number Theory.
