This module covers the advanced principles of pharmacoepidemiology and global health issues. 

This module aims to give students knowledge of:

• Pharmacoepidemiology; global medical affairs; public health challenges; best practice for global health; delivering high standards of health globally
• Global healthcare marketplace; sale and marketing of medicines
• Global pharmacovigilance; design of effective data collection and reporting strategies
• Advocacy strategies for influencing policy and decision makers
• Payer use of pharmacoeconomic evaluation to select which medicines to buy

By the end of this module students will be able to:

1. Recognise the global public health challenges
2. Appreciate the challenges of manufacturing, selling and marketing medicines for the global healthcare marketplace
3. Design effective data collection and reporting strategies for global pharmacovigilance
4. Generate advocacy strategies for influencing policy and decision makers globally
5. Apply pharmacoeconomic evaluation to derive cost effective purchase lists

Minimum entry requirements are either a medical degree (such as an MBBS) or a 2:1 first degree in pharmacy, pharmacology, biology, biochemistry, chemistry or related subject.
