Buckinghamshire Mind is running a free online webinar for anyone – particularly those working or volunteering in the voluntary, housing, health, care or statutory sectors - who would like to learn more about severe mental illness (SMI), the health inequalities experienced by those experiencing severe mental illness and the importance of annual physical health checks. People living with severe mental illness face one of the greatest health inequality gaps in England. We hope to reduce this by raising awareness of severe mental illness and the importance of physical health checks with as many community touchpoints as possible. "It makes me angry that there are so many people waiting for mental health services. It's so hard to get help. All I was offered was, ‘Oh, we can put you on the list for this’." I then went in and I spoke to someone at Swansea Mind, and he was absolutely amazing. He said, ‘Look at my scars. I've been there, I've done it’.
